Implementing Borderless Strategy, PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga Drilled the Polaris D-1X Exploration Well

Sangasanga, April 10, 2023 - PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), one of the subsidiaries of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) Kalimantan Region, Pertamina's Upstream Subholding, has conducted a drill of exploration on the Polaris D-1X Exploration Well on March 20, 2023. This well is an entry (play opener) for the area in the PHSS work area and has a deeper reservoir target than the reservoirs in the fields that have been producing around the area.

President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), Chalid Said Salim, said that the Polaris D-1X Exploration well is one of four Definite Commitment exploration wells in the Sangasanga area. The other definite commitment wells are the Phoenix North-1 ST Well, the Helios D-1 Well, and the Draco B-1X Well.

"In this exploratory drilling program, we are implementing a borderless strategy, as has been previously applied to the Helios D1 Exploration Well, which is an incision of the PT Pertamina EP (PEP) work area and the PHSS work area. Currently, we have completed the drilling process and are evaluating the results," said Chalid.

Furthermore, Chalid explained through this borderless strategy, collaboration was established between PHI, PHSS, PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Asset 5, Pertamina Upstream Subholding, and PT Elnusa. "The synergy and collaboration between the Pertamina group results are an opener (play opener) in finding resources that will increase oil and gas reserves," said Chalid

According to Chalid, this well is expected to be a discovery for the Company's future resources development and to maintain energy sustainability in Indonesia.

"The target for this drilling is to achieve OTOBOSOR (On Target, On Budget, On Scope/Spec/Safety, On Return/Regulation) and to fulfill the target of additional resources or 2C. Thus, the discovery of reserves and Reserve to Production (RTP) or the Company's production operation period could be longer," added Chalid.

Chalid also conveyed the Company's commitment to continue investing in the exploration and development of oil and gas fields to find new resources and add reserves which are important for achieving national energy security.
