Implementing Go Global Guidance, Pertamina's Fostered MSMEs Partners Pursue the Mission to Introduce Indonesian Culture to the World

Jakarta, November 18, 2020 - The mentoring and coaching of MSMEs by PT Pertamina (Persero) through its Partnership Program has been carried out sustainably. They were starting from traditional condition to achieving the coaching aim, which is to Go Global. Everything is carried out with care to have the best result.

This principle is also applied by one of Pertamina's Fostered MSME partners, Yosephine Erlianie. This Oniecraft business owner is known for her paper tole craft or exclusive 3-dimensional drawing art. "We care for the quality of the paper tole art that I made, and it cannot be made in a hurry," she said.

She has the principle that every product that is made must be done in detail and thoroughly so that the results can satisfy art connoisseurs and customers. Since getting to know paper tole art in 1996, this woman familiarly called Onie has succeeded in producing thousands of paper tole artisans through courses in various cities in Indonesia. The majority of the training is provided free of charge.

In this way, Onie wants more people to get to know paper tole crafts. Onie's business proved effective, so she started to venture out to sell her handicraft in 2000. Her target market is mostly aimed at foreigners or expatriates in Indonesia.

The products produced by Oniecraft MSME are marketed with the lowest price range starting from IDR 110,000 to IDR 10 million per item. The high price offered is based on the difficulty level of the paper tole making process. With this selling price, she can pocket a net turnover of around IDR 30 million per month.

Apart from pursuing profit, this architectural alumnus from one of the national universities also has a critical business mission. Namely preserving Indonesia's cultural and historical wealth through handicrafts. "Papertole art is quite popular in Europe, so we modify it with the form and characteristics of the nation so that Indonesia will be better known to the world, especially its culture," she said.

The definite steps of Oniecraft's business mission are slowly starting to materialize. Some of its products have been successfully exported to countries in Europe and Japan. Also, she participated in many product exhibitions abroad, such as Algeria, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Norway. "Under Pertamina's guidance, I want this business to be more developed and able to reach a wider marketing area," she said.

Acting Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Heppy Wulansari, appreciated Onie's efforts. According to her, Onie's business principles deserve to be supported and continue to be preserved. "Apart from implementing sociopreneur-based businesses, we must also support efforts to introduce Indonesian culture to the world's eyes," said Heppy.

Pertamina will also help MSMEs such as Oniecraft upgrade to superior and independent MSME to provide jobs and help economic independence. "This is an implementation of the Goal 8 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is hoped that it can help people get decent jobs and encourage national economic growth," concluded Heppy.**
