November 15, 2021 – As an International Regional PT Pertamina International Exploration and Production (PIEP) is committed to implementing Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) aspects in carrying out all its business processes. One of its points is the 'environment' aspect that is the concern of PIEP and its subsidiaries in carrying out operations in the field.
Having operational work areas located abroad, PIEP has its challenges to make adjustments in a certain country to maintain Good Corporate Governance (GCG). Starting with the regulation regarding the elimination of diesel-based drilling mud in Algeria, PIEP has a solution to anticipate these regulations, namely by using Product SF-05, an environmentally friendly 'Pertamina Base Fluid' product to be applied in drilling activities at the MLN-405 Field, Algeria.
The use of SF-05 has several positive impacts, including protecting the 'Albian Formation' a water source in North Africa, and protecting workers from the use of diesel-based sludge where long-term use can cause leukemia, Alzheimer's, tumors even cancer. In terms of operation, it has other advantages whereas the SF-05 has a 'low aromatic' and 'non-toxic' specification, its performance is also proven in High-Pressure High Temperature (HPHT), Offshore, and deep-water drilling.
The success of PIEP officers in using the SF-05 product as a substitute for oil-based mud was well appreciated by the Government of Algeria in the application of the new technology. "Through the use of the SF-05 product for drilling in Algeria, this proves the extraordinary synergy of subsidiaries in the international arena," said John Anis, President Director of PIEP.
PIEP is a subsidiary of Upstream Subholding is committed to maintaining national energy security through overseas operating work areas with a YTD 2021 oil and gas production of 153,595 BOEPD.
Khairul Saleh as PIEP Relations Manager emphasized that all PIEP officers as one of the Subholding Upstream subsidiaries have high awareness and understanding in holding the mandate to continue to uphold HSSE values in all their business processes abroad.**
