In 3 Weeks, Pertamina Distributed 1.335 Tons of Oxygen to 206 Hospitals

Jakarta, July 23, 2021 – PT Pertamina (Persero) and its subsidiaries succeeded in distributing oxygen assistance to fulfill oxygen needs of 7 (seven) provinces in Java and Bali after 3 weeks of chasing time to speed up oxygen handling in Java. The oxygen is intended for Covid-19 patients in 206 hospitals with a total liquid oxygen capacity of 1.334 tons.

The oxygen distribution that has been carried out since July 6, 2021, has reached 5 hospitals in DKI Jakarta, 5 hospitals in Banten, 56 hospitals in West Java, 72 hospitals in Central Java, 46 hospitals in DI Yogyakarta, 12 hospitals in East Java, and 10 hospitals in Bali.

The 1.335 tons of oxygen were distributed through 31 ISO Tank trucks in 67 stages. Pertamina carried out the oxygen distribution from Linde and Air Liquid’s Filling Plant to be transported to Depo Point Storage Samator that is spread across several areas. The distribution was based on the total amount of oxygen demand in the provinces as informed by the Ministry of Health.

Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, explained that as an SOE, Pertamina will continue to contribute in handling oxygen shortage in hospitals, especially on the islands of Java and Bali.

This step is part of the implementation of Pertamina’s social and environmental responsibilities, as well as the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Pertamina not only distributes energy up to remote areas, but also present in overcoming hardship faced by Indonesia, including in the health sector,” she said.

Fajriyah added that the oxygen distribution involved Pertamina Group that was coordinated directly by the Holding Directors together with Subholding Gas (PT PGN Tbk., PT Pertamina Gas, and PT Gagas), Subholding Commercial & Trading (PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and PT Patra Logistik), as well as PT Elnusa Petrofin. In the implementation step, Pertamina’s team that is a part of the Acceleration of Oxygen Handling Task Force also coordinated closely with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of SOEs, Ministry of Industry, and Coordinating Ministry for Maritime & Investment Affairs.

An important role in the oxygen distribution can also be seen in Pertamina’s Tank Truck Crew (AMT) who have undergone round trip hours of more than 50 hours, with the distance traveled of more than 750 km.

However, by constantly implementing HSSE aspects and strict health protocols, the difficult process was completed smoothly and safely, ensuring that no AMT were exposed to Covid-19.

“In the midst of tough energy business challenges, the management earnestly monitors the process of oxygen distribution and ensures that the aid can help the government in handling Covid-19,” she said.**
