Increasing the Number of Upgraded MSEs, Pertamina Continues the UMK Academy Program

Jakarta, June 1, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero), through the MSE Funding Program, focuses on making its fostered partners into an upgraded micro and small enterprises (MSEs). One of them is through Pertamina's program, the UMK Academy. In its implementation in 2020, the MSE upgrading program has successfully upgraded 162 fostered partners.

Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations, Fajriyah Usman, said several reasons made these MSEs adapt quickly and follow coaching with focus. "The UMK Academy participants have been strictly curated. They are grouped according to special classes," she said.

This class is adjusted to Pertamina's MSE development roadmap. Namely, Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, and Go Global. Therefore, the monitoring of business development can be carried out easily and measurably. Last year's UMK Academy activities also contributed to more than 20 percent of upgraded MSEs in 2020, which amount to 795 MSEs.

Based on these results, Fajriyah explained, Pertamina is currently working on a better concept for implementing this program in the future. In implementing Go Modern class development, the program still focuses on the agribusiness sector. It is an attempt to increase the quality of production and assist national food security initiatives.

Furthermore, Go Digital and Go Online participants who upgraded will be included in the Go Global class in the next program. Meanwhile, upgraded Go Global participants will be included in exhibitions both domestically and abroad. "The ultimate goal is for more fostered partners to penetrate the export market and become Go Global MSEs," she said.

One of the UMK Academy 2020 participants is Abdianto. After being recognized to have passed the program, the owner of the Fitri Coffee in Ujung Payung Village, Payung, Karo, North Sumatra, has earned many benefits. "I got the opportunity to be assisted in taking care of BPOM, HKI, and Halal. Very grateful," he said.

According to Fajriyah, through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can drive the economy--energy that becomes fuel and energy that generates sustainable growth.

Pertamina supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) point 8 achievements by implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
