Indonesia Ready to Host ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF), Establish Dialogue and Business Cooperation in 3 Key Sectors

Jakarta, August 29, 2023 — Indonesia is prepared to host the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF): Implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific on September 5-6. As the flagship event integral to the 43rd ASEAN Summit and the East Asia Summit, the opening of AIPF will be attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia and leaders from ASEAN countries. Several Heads of State/Government will also be key speakers at the event, which will take place at Hotel Mulia Jakarta.

Erick Thohir, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE), responsible for side events during Indonesia's ASEAN 2023 Chairmanship, stated that the Indonesian Government is meticulously preparing for the AIPF. "AIPF is Indonesia's initiative as the ASEAN 2023 Chair to provide a platform for the private sector and the public, including state-owned enterprises (SOE), from ASEAN and partners in the Indo-Pacific region to discuss and generate inclusive, collaborative, and concrete business cooperation. There are three areas that AIPF focuses on, which are resilient green infrastructure and supply chains, digital transformation and the creative economy, as well as sustainable and innovative financing," Minister Erick said.

Various panel discussions and talk shows will feature industry leaders and experts from governments, international financial institutions and organizations, as well as world-class companies from ASEAN and partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Project exhibitions and business matching meetings will also complement the AIPF event series.

Eight state-owned enterprises, namely BRI, Pertamina, PLN, Bank Mandiri, BNI, MIND ID, Telkom Indonesia, and InJourney, along with the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), Standard Chartered, Google, Sun Cable, the British Chamber of Commerce, will actively participate in the AIPF event series.

Several organizations’ and companies’ leaders will also serve as speakers and panelists, including those from the World Economic Forum, ASEAN-BAC, Kadin, Maybank, Airbus, Aspen Medical, Forest Carbon Microsoft, Business Council Canada, European Investment Bank, Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs, bp, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, US Trade and Development Agency, Loca Laos, Aruna, and Fairatmos.

"AIPF is also an event to showcase state-owned enterprises’ strategic role, as well as to expand investment cooperation in strategic state-owned enterprise projects for Indonesia's progress and to strengthen ASEAN's position as an economic growth center," said the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, stated that as one of the state-owned enterprises prioritizing green infrastructure and robust supply chains, Pertamina supports and participates in the AIPF 2023 implementation.

"Pertamina continues to accelerate the transition to environmentally friendly green energy by harnessing our natural resources. Indeed, this must be done collectively, making synergy and collaboration crucial with both state-owned enterprises and private companies," Fadjar said.
