Indramayu, December 1, 2021 - For the national tree planting day on November 28, 2021, Pertamina Gas Sub Holding affiliate, PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), planted 200 sea pine at Indramayu Rembat Beach on Monday (29/11).
The event was led by Gatot Budhi Prakoso, GM Operation East Region of Pertagas and Management of Pertagas Operation West Java Area (OWJA). It was also attended by Sunarto, as Head of Juntinyuat Village, and Bastian, Head of Karangtaruna Juntinyuat Village.
In his remarks, Gatot said that companies need to prevent abrasion on the north coast of Java Island.
"Planting trees is part of Pertamina's efforts to help curb the rate of abrasion on the north coast of Java. In the future, the results of the reforestation activities of Pertagas OWJA are expected to support emission reduction programs. Therefore, the support from the Local Government and the community is needed for the sustainability of the company's greening program," said Gatot.
Damage to the coastal vegetation area due to abrasion is the reason for choosing Rembat beach as part of the Pertagas OWJA reforestation program. By planting this sea pine tree, it is hoped that Pertagas, the Village Government, and the community can work together to restore coastal vegetation, reduce the rate of abrasion, and reforestation of Rembat beach.
Before planting sea pine trees, Pertagas first repaired the shoreline by installing a 200-meter Geotube and planting 300 mangroves to reduce the rate of Rembat beach abrasion.
"We thank Pertamina Gas. Hopefully, this planting activity can continue. We hope that the synergy between the government and Pertagas will provide lessons to the community and support the village's efforts to create environmentally friendly tourist sites, especially in Rembat Beach," Sunarto concluded.**
