Jakarta, June 28, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero), through the MSE Funding Program, held the Pertamina UMK Academy 2021 event. The event opened virtually on Wednesday (23/6) will be held for 6 (six) months until mid-December 2021. It is targeted that 645 partners will be upgraded through the UMK Academy program this year.
Corporate Secretary of Pertamina, Brahmantya Satyamurti Poerwadi, opened the 2021 Pertamina UMK Academy Kick-Off activity. In his speech, Brahmantya explained several objectives for this activity. "Of course, that is to helping the fostered partners to upgrade," he said.
In addition, it is also a means to help increase the market reach of the fostered partners' products. It also aims to increase business knowledge in online product marketing and providing entrepreneurial knowledge to create strong and independent entrepreneurs.
In detail, a technical explanation related to the implementation of the Pertamina UMK Academy program was delivered by the Vice President of CSR and SMEPP Management of Pertamina, Arya Dwi Paramita. According to him, just like the 2020 UMK Academy, the fostered partners selected to be participants will be grouped into four classes.
"They will be grouped based on their business conditions. It includes the Go Modern class mostly filled by MSEs from the agriculture, plantation, fishery, and livestock sectors. The Go Digital and Go Online classes from the trade, services, and industry sectors. And the Go Global class for MSEs who are ready to fill the world market through export activities," he said.
To realize the target number of upgraded MSEs, Arya continued, UMK Academy participants can meet at least 2 of the seven upgraded MSEs indicators. It includes increasing the number of employees, loan value, production capacity, turnover, involvement of the surrounding community, expansion of marketing reach, and ownership of business certificates.
"We are optimistic that the partners fostered by Pertamina UMK Academy 2021 participants can meet these indicators. Of course, by applying a high entrepreneurial spirit and with assistance from Pertamina and partners involved in this event, of course," said Arya.
On the same occasion, the Chairman of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), Hermawan Kartajaya, also shared his experiences and entrepreneurial spirit in the debriefing session. "Entrepreneurship can be studied, especially marketing issues. Marketing are not only for reaching customers, but it can also be utilized to find networks, recruit staff, and so on," he said.
In his presentation, he also appreciated the role of Pertamina as one of the strategic SOEs in Indonesia in fostering small businesses.
"There are three real entrepreneurs: the one that can see opportunities, can take risks, and collaborate. This knowledge must be included in every class so that the UMK Academy is even better. The current one is good. I have never found another similar company. Pertamina has this kind of intention (in fostering MSMEs)," he added.
Through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can move the economy--energy that fuels and energy that produce sustainable growth.
