Minister of SOE Greets Pertamina Officers, Calls Indonesia's Economic Integrator

April 19, 2022 - Minister of SOE, Erick Thohir, visited Pertamina officers at the Grha Pertamina Building, Jakarta. During his visit, Erick encouraged Pertamina's officers and called Pertamina an integrator or an engine that drives Indonesia's economy.

Erick's arrival regarding 'Officer Talks with Minister of SOE Erick Thohir' at the Grha Pertamina Building, Central Jakarta, Monday (18/4/2022) was welcomed by President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, and President of the United Workers Union Federation of Pertamina, Arie Gumilar. Pertamina's board of directors and management from holding and subholding were also present.

Erick's presence was warmly welcomed by the Perwira (Pertamina officers). As soon as he entered the Grha Pertamina Ballroom, many workers immediately invited Erick to take a group photo.

In his speech, the Minister of SOE appreciated Pertamina's performance for Indonesia. Erick even likens Pertamina as an integrator of Indonesia's economic growth.

"Pertamina is the integrator of Indonesia's economic growth. What used to be only oil, now we see that the derivatives of Pertamina's products in the future are the supporters of our country's foundation. What are the derivatives of petrochemicals? Raw materials for medicine, clothing, and others. We need the transformation from Pertamina," said Erick.

Erick added that Pertamina's transformation was needed because Pertamina would play in all business lines. Erick is also optimistic that Pertamina, an integrator of the Indonesian economy, can become a world giant company.

"Even Pertamina's grandson companies are great. Just look at Pertamina's hospital at the forefront during Covid. Now, Pertamina also builds an international hospital for cancer in Bali," said Erick.

Meanwhile, Nicke Widyawati welcomed Erick's presence at the Pertamina office. Erick also took the time to talk with Pertamina officers.

"We are very honored that the Minister of SOE is present to communicate directly with Pertamina officers. I liken this Minister's arrival to parents who come to visit their children. There are many children, and we are lucky that the Minister today took the time comes to meet us," she said.

She also said that Erick's presence encouraged Pertamina in providing service to the country. She also emphasized that Pertamina's officers are ready to "run" in optimizing performance for the nation.

"Indeed, this is an encouragement for us to continue to do the best for this country. Push our limits, and do our best. Because I have said on several occasions that the Minister has always asked me to run, therefore we must always be ready," said Nicke.

In this activity, Erick had a light discussion with Pertamina officers in the waters of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia and workers in Algeria. Erick and Nicke also interacted directly with the Pertamina officer community, including Pertastars (automotive community), Pertamina Runners (running community), Pertamina Basketball, Pertabike, Agent of Change, Pertamina eSport Competition 3.0, Pertamina Digital (Mita), Pertamina English Community and Pertiwi.

Erick and the Board of Directors also provided direct assistance with Eid clothes for orphans through the Lebaran Shirt Spread (Distribution) program.**
