Motivate to Go Global, Pertamina Gives Tips to Enter Australia's Export Market

Collaboration with Local Weavers to Produce World-Class Products

Jakarta, July 27, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero), through the MSE Funding Program, continues its support to fostered partners to become Go Global MSEs. This commitment is manifested in the provision of UMK Academy 2021 participants by presenting experienced facilitators. Along with Pertamina's fostered partners, who have successfully penetrated the world market with their work.

Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, explained that besides aiming to introduce the export market, the briefing was also a means to inspire participants from the Go Global class to be more motivated to sell their products to foreign countries.

"Pertamina has presented the Co-Founder & Director of the House of Indonesia Sydney, Vidi Vinandar. There is also an exclusive facilitator from the MarkPlus Institute, Marthani, and one of Pertamina's fostered partners who are quite successful with their Kekean Wastra Gallery efforts, namely Achmad Nur Hasim or Aam," explained Fajriyah.

In his presentation, Vidi conveyed regulations and tips to penetrate the Australian export market. According to him, for regulations and licensing, Australia is quite strict about imported goods. "For food products, for example, MSEs can see the biosecurity that has been provided on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Environment. Everything is clearly stated," he said.

Meanwhile, MSEs must adhere to several marketing strategy guidelines, according to Marthani, to be upgraded and go global. Such as looking for opportunities, analyzing business strengths, to optimizing opportunities with 3C conditions. "Change, competitors, customers. These three conditions need to be studied more deeply to obtain accurate analysis results," she said.

These methods have been previously applied by Aam. Departing from concern related to culture and local fashion wisdom, Aam established a sociopreneur-based business, namely Kekean Wastra Gallery. "I keep looking for ways how a local handmade product can become a big industry. The key is standardization. It turns out that having abundant human resources can also be a strength," he said.

On that basis, he co-founded the Kekean Foundation. Apart from being a form of social responsibility, this part of the business also plays a role in creating and developing business processes. Such as a broader market invention or looking for a joint business group (KUB) that has the potential to be developed. "Currently, we are empowering 12 KUB, where the last one joined was KUB in Gresik with around 290 weavers who are members of it," he added.

It is this entrepreneurial spirit that he conveyed to many Go Global MSE participants. Finally, he can fulfill one of his greatest ambitions: collaborating with Christian Dior, a world-renowned fashion brand. "Behind some of the trials during the pandemic, an extraordinary opportunity has come. It is the importance of continuing to increase innovation and hard work," he concluded.

According to Fajriyah, through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can move the economy--energy that fuels and energy that produce sustainable growth.

Pertamina also supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) achievements through implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
