Jakarta, December 6, 2023 - Nicke Widyawati, the President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), has once again been included in Forbes' 2023 list of the top 100 most influential women in the world, "The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women."
Nicke becomes one of the two most influential Indonesian women featured on this list. She ranks 51st, with Sri Mulyani, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, in the 47th position. The top positions are held by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, followed by the President of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, and American singer-songwriter, Taylor Swift.
Previously, Nicke has consecutively been listed among the most influential women by Fortune and Forbes in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Similar to previous years, Forbes explains that the list of influential women is determined by four main metrics: income, media presence, impact, and scope of influence.
"For political leaders, we consider gross domestic product and population; for corporate chiefs, revenues, valuations, and employee counts; and media mentions and social reach were analyzed," Forbes stated.
Forbes highlighted Nicke Widyawati's success as the Chair of the Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Task Force during Indonesia's presidency of the G20 in 2022. Nicke brought forth three major recommendations: Accelerating the Transition to Sustainable Energy, Ensuring a Proper and Equitable Transition, and Energy Affordability. As the President Director of a State-Owned Enterprise, Nicke consistently supports the decisions of the Indonesian government.
Nicke Widyawati, President Director of Pertamina, acknowledges that this recognition is inseparable from the support of all stakeholders, management, and Pertamina officers throughout Indonesia.
"I am grateful for the positive assessment and international recognition of Pertamina. This award serves as motivation to continue working even better in maintaining national energy resilience and achieving success in the energy transition towards achieving Net Zero Emission," said Nicke.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.
