On Kartini Day, Pelita Air Presents "Kartini Flight" and the Aviation Industry's Carbon Neutrality

Jakarta, April 22, 2024 - Pelita Air, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina (Persero), commemorated Kartini Day on Sunday, April 21, by presenting a special flight called "Kartini Flight" involving an all-female crew, including pilots and cabin attendants.

"Kartini Flight" serves as Pelita Air's appreciation towards the role of women, especially Indonesian women, which has become increasingly significant and impactful in society today.

Vice President Corporate Secretary of PT Pelita Air Service, Agdya Pratami Putri Yogandari, stated, "This appreciation spirit is represented by the presence of an all-female crew on the special flight 'Kartini Flight,' namely flight IP204 from Jakarta to Surabaya at 10:45 AM and flight IP205 from Surabaya to Jakarta on Sunday, April 21. This special flight also demonstrates that women play a significant role in the aviation industry, where men still dominate various positions."

Agdya continued that Kartini Day is a moment to celebrate the spirit and dedication of female heroes who have inspired many Indonesian women to take on more roles, actualize themselves, and contribute to self-development and society.

Agdya added that Pelita Air also invites all Indonesian women to self-actualize without hesitation to enhance their significant role and contribution to society for sustainable progress.

Moreover, on this flight, Pelita Air also implements a carbon-neutral policy to realize more environmentally friendly and sustainable flights. "Pelita Air continues to practice greener flights as one of our efforts to preserve the environment. We implement a carbon-neutral policy that allows a more sustainable flight," said Agdya.

On this flight, Pelita Air can offset carbon by utilizing its Carbon Credits, thus making these two special Kartini Day flights Carbon Neutral Flights. For information, Pelita Air utilized Carbon Credits during the opening of the IDX Carbon Exchange on September 26, 2023.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that the Kartini Flight momentum reflects Pertamina's commitment to providing opportunities for Pertamina's female heroes to excel. This moment is also an added value because Pelita Air implements environmentally friendly carbon neutrality to support Pertamina's services as a sustainable company.

"Not only in the energy business, through aviation transportation services, Pertamina is taking concrete steps towards Net Zero Emission (NZE) in the aviation industry with Pelita Air," Fadjar said.
