On Track, Tuban GRR Project Successfully Employs 1220 Local Workers

Tuban, January 29, 2022 - The dedication of PT Pertamina Rosneft Pengolahan dan Petrokimia (Pertamina Rosneft) in guarding the National Strategic Project (PSN) of the Tuban GRR Refinery is shown in its performance in accelerating the project to optimizing the absorption of TKDN. As a strategic project, the Tuban GRR Refinery is projected to become one of the largest refineries in Indonesia, which produces quality fuel products such as Gasoline, Diesel, and Avtur up to 229 thousand barrels per day. Pertamina Rosneft proactively involves local workers in this strategic project, with a total of 1220 workers employed in the Tuban area.

President Director of Pertamina Rosneft, Kadek Ambara Jaya, emphasized that the company has a high commitment in creating a multiplier effect for the people of Tuban through the Tuban GRR project. Kadek added that Pertamina Rosneft's commitment to empowering local workers in the Tuban area had been carried out since the land clearing stage. “In total, there are 1220 local workers who have been empowered from land clearing I to IV stage. These local workers come from ring 1 villages in the Tuban GRR area including Wadung, Rawasan, Mentoso, Sumurgeneng and Kaliuntu,” said Kadek.

In addition to empowering local workers, Kadek ensures that the Tuban GRR project has been carried out in line with the company's Environmental Social Responsibility program. “For three years from 2019-2021, the contribution of Tuban GRR's Environmental Social Responsibility has reached IDR 23 billion. One of the social programs that we have launched is the D3 Energy and Minerals Polytechnic (PEM) scholarship, Akamigas Cepu for talented students in the Tuban area. This year, our scholarship recipients have entered the final stages of their studies. This means that our programs are designed to be sustainable and target all levels of society,” explained Kadek.

The Tuban GRR project has an absorption target for the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of 27.85%. Its components include local labor employment during the project, after the project, to quality domestic goods and services. “The Tuban GRR project will participate in using local raw materials in its construction process. To ensure the quality of TKDN, we are collaborating with PT Surveyor Indonesia (Persero) in carrying out a project vendor assessment so that vendors meet the TKDN value in the procurement of goods that will be absorbed in the construction of the Tuban GRR," added Kadek.

On Track Guarding the National Strategic Projects

Considering the strategic value of the Tuban GRR Refinery to support the country's energy security, Pertamina Rosneft is committed to managing this project on track. "Until the end of December 2021, the progress of this project has reached 62.77% in the design preparation stage (Front-End Engineering Design/FEED). This figure is quite far beyond the initial target of 56.45%. The preparation of this technical design is a crucial phase in the construction of the refinery because, from this FEED, the complete design and specifications of the refinery will be obtained as a basis for continuing the project," explained Kadek.

The Tuban GRR Refinery Project is a program to build a new oil refinery integrated with a petrochemical refinery to realize the country's energy security In addition to fuel products, the Tuban GRR Refinery aims to produce 2820 kilotons of petrochemical products per year and 1300 kilotons of paraxylene per year. The refinery, which has a processing capacity of up to 300 thousand barrels per day, will be one of the largest refineries owned by Pertamina. "We ask for the support of the parties and the community to maintain the conduciveness of this project so that it can be On Track, On Budget, On Specification, On Return and On Regulation," stated Kadek.**
