Jakarta, November 18, 2020 - The openness and implementation of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), carried out by PT Pertamina (Persero), is recognized as one of the best in Indonesia. It was revealed by the 2020 ESG Awards, where the company won four awards as the Best SOE.
ESG Awards 2020 is an award for companies in the country that are considered to have openness in ESG disclosure. Investor Magazine - Berita Satu Media gave the award virtually in collaboration with the Bumi Global Karbon Foundation at the 2020 ESG Awards, Tuesday (17/11/20) night.
This ESG award is based on Pertamina's openness in the Annual Report and Sustainability Report for the 2019 financial year, following global references, namely the Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) Standards. The first ESG Awards from Investor Magazine and Bumi Global Karbon Foundation aim to motivate companies to be more concerned about the environment, social and good corporate governance.
In this event, Pertamina became the best in four categories, namely the Best SOE ESG Disclosure Ranking, the Best SOE Social Disclosure Rating, the Best Non-Bank SOE ESG Disclosure Rating, and the Best Non-Bank SOE Social Disclosure Rating.
Acting VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Heppy Wulansari, said that this award would encourage Pertamina to continue to improve service quality and improve environmental, social, and governance management in an open, innovative and sustainable manner. Apart from running its business, this commitment to ESG is the company's strategic effort in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (TPB).
Heppy added that the management of CSR and Community Development programs, which are part of the ESG, is the Company's Key Performance Indicators. "The CSR and Community Development programs that we carry out in all areas of operation are beneficial for maintaining harmony between the company and the surrounding environment, as well as part of Pertamina's mission to manage sustainable energy," she said.
Heppy continued, Pertamina expressed its appreciation to Investor Magazine and Bumi Global Karbon Foundation, which have paid attention to Indonesian companies that have managed environmental, social, and corporate governance issues well.
Meanwhile, the Founder of Bumi Global Karbon Foundation (BGKF), Achmad Deni Daruri, as the giver and organizer of the 2020 ESG Award said, this award event refers to the 2019 disclosure assessment. The ESG Awards, which was held for the first time, motivated companies to care more about environmental, social, and good corporate governance.
"We appreciate companies that have a concern on ESG issues, which are already a global issue," explained Deni.
ESG, said Deni, is an important issue that companies need to pay attention to for the company's sustainability in the future and the sustainability of life in the world. ESG concern is the hallmark of a modern company.**
