Jakarta, August 28, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero) returns to hold the Pertamina Energi Negeri (PEN) 7.0 event simultaneously in 79 elementary schools across Indonesia. The 7th PEN this year also celebrated the 79th of the Indonesia Independence Day.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, stated that PEN 7.0 is an annual event voluntarily conducted by Pertamina officers as a form of social service to the younger generation, who are the future leaders and drivers of the nation.
“PEN 7.0 is a tangible manifestation of Pertamina's presence and concern in supporting and advancing education in Indonesia,” Fadjar said.
Fadjar added that PEN 7.0 involved Pertamina officers from the Holding, Subholding, and subsidiaries throughout Indonesia. Pertamina officers contributed directly as volunteers with various roles, such as facilitators, teachers, and documenters, collaborating to share knowledge through different media.
“PEN focuses on providing education and motivation to children, particularly in elementary schools, including instilling awareness of the importance of energy and how to use it wisely from an early age,” Fadjar continued.
The theme of PEN 7.0 is "Arutala," which in Sanskrit means "Noble and Lofty Aspirations" with the tagline "We Know, We Can! Sharing Knowledge, Enlightening the Nation's Children."
In Sorong, Southwest Papua, the PEN event by PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Kasim Unit at SD YPK III Bethel, the first school built in Sorong, on Dum Island. Besides educting, KPI also donated educational supplies.
“The assistance provided aligns with the school's needs—essential and useful—serving as motivation for the school,” said the Acting Area Manager for Communication, Relations, CSR, & Compliance of Kasim Unit, Bambang Imawan.
In Plaju, 25 Pertamina officers from various Subholdings collaborated as volunteers, directly engaging with SDN 231 and SDN 225 in Palembang. These volunteers provided education and motivation to the students while also introducing several aspects of the oil and gas business managed by Pertamina.
“We hope this program continues and reaches more schools in Plaju and its surroundings so that more students can benefit from it,” said the Area Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional Plaju Unit, Siti Rachmi Indahsari.
On this occasion, Pertamina also handed over assistance for infrastructure development at SDN 231 and SDN 225 Palembang.
In Bogor, 15 Pertamina officers volunteered to share knowledge, spread positive inspiration, and introduce various professions at Pertamina. They also introduced Pertamina Upstream efforts in exploring oil and gas resources to around 90 students at SD Negeri Cibuluh 1 in Bogor City.
“PEN 7.0 held in Bogor is a positive activity, especially in providing light education about Pertamina’s fields abroad, English, and the introduction of Akhlak Values to elementary school children in Bogor City,” said the President Director of Pertamina Internasional EP (PIEP), Jaffee A Suardin, who was also involved in the PEN 7.0 program.
In Jakarta, the PEN event at SDN 03 Pagi Kebagusan in South Jakart. It was initiated by the Pertamina Cares team, supported by Pertiwi (Pertamina Women's Organization), Pertamina Troopers, Pertamina Employee Journalism, and Pertamina's Agent of Change (AoC).

The key to success is learning under the guidance of your teachers, respecting and always seeking blessings from your parents,” said the President Director of PHE, Chalid Said Salim, who was present and directly involved as one of the teachers.
