Jakarta, March 20, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero) has registered 223 Patents of Intellectual Property Rights in innovative performance and services. This achievement led Pertamina to become one of Southeast and South Asia companies to win The Clarivate Innovation Award 2020 for the Corporate Category.
Of the total patent registrations, 111 patents came from Pertamina Holding and 112 from its subsidiaries. The company facilitated the registration of intellectual property rights (patents) after Pertamina Group's innovation program was successful and proven.
The number of innovations that Pertamina has successfully achieved has also continued to increase significantly—starting from 100 innovations in 1990 to 3,062 innovations in 2020 for all Pertamina Group business entities, exceeding the 2020 roadmap target of 3,000 innovations. Thousands of innovative works were created to continuously improve Pertamina's business processes, especially in providing services to the community to increase customer satisfaction.
Senior Vice President of Corporate Communication & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Agus Suprijanto, said that following the vision and aspirations of becoming a global energy company, Pertamina would continue to lead the transformation and strengthen the culture and innovation ecosystem throughout the company's business lines.

Agus added, in the development of value creation innovations, Pertamina also continues to carry out aspects of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Framework comprehensively to strengthen efforts to achieve company aspirations and face the challenges of the energy transition.
Clarivate Plc is an international institution committed to increasing innovation, including protection and advancing these innovations with the various solutions they offer. Clarivate was previously the Intellectual Property and Science Division at Thomson Reuters, which before 2008 was known as Thomson Scientific.
The award was presented at the Innovation Forum, which was held in November 2020. The Clarivate Innovation Award awards innovation awards 28 institutions in top positions in each Southeast & South Asian country out of 235 universities, government research institutes, and corporations in Southeast and South Asia identified as innovators.
For the corporate category, apart from Pertamina, companies in Southeast and South Asia that received similar awards in 2020 were Petronas from Malaysia, Sivantos Group from Singapore, MAS Holdings from Sri Lanka, Siam Cement Group from Thailand, and Viettel Group from Vietnam.
