Jakarta, March 15, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero) recently obtained a B score from the global non-profit organization CDP (formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project). This "management" level score reflects CDP's recognition of Pertamina's initiatives contributing to climate change mitigation and water resilience.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that since joining the CDP Climate Change initiative in 2021, Pertamina has been disclosing decarbonization implementation. In 2023, Pertamina once again achieved a B score.
Pertamina has also disclosed Water Security data with a B- score. "With this score, Pertamina is at a management level, indicating that Pertamina is deemed to have addressed the environmental impacts of its business and ensured good environmental management," explained Fadjar.
Pertamina's climate change initiative programs include decarbonization, energy transition through new business development, new and renewable energy (NRE) development, and water efficiency with Pertamina Water Tools, an internal innovation tool to identify and mitigate water risks in the company's operational areas.
"By engaging in CDP reporting, Pertamina can create a higher level of accountability in terms of environmental responsibility in the eyes of stakeholders and enhance its competitiveness in the industry," added Fadjar.
Fadjar further stated that Pertamina's score is now at the average industry level for oil and gas extraction and production, namely a B score for Climate and a B- score for Water categories.
CDP Director Dexter Galvin revealed that Pertamina has a significant influence on environmental and social impacts. The company has played a proactive role in managing these risks through its participation in CDP reporting.
