Jakarta, March 8, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero) proactively realizes environmental sustainability to achieve the emissions reduction target of Net Zero Emission Indonesia 2060. One of these efforts is through Pertamina's participation in the Planting Movement of 100,000 Tree Seedlings, initiated by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE).
The Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explains that the tree planting movement aims to make Indonesia greener and support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Point 13 (Climate Action) and Point 15 (Land Ecosystems). During the event, Pertamina distributed 8,621 tree seedlings in several strategic locations, including the Thamrin-Sudirman area of Jakarta during Car Free Day (CFD) on February 18, greening activities in Ancol area, and the environment of the Jakarta Provincial Government (Greener Jakarta).
Pertamina also collaborates with influencers and Environmental Movement Communities to instill awareness of the need to preserve nature.
"This activity is also part of National Press Day, where we fulfill our commitment to tree planting programs as part of Pertamina's environmental social responsibility (CSR). We hope that the distributed tree seedlings can grow lush and reduce emissions in Jakarta," explains Fadjar.
Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Pertamina, Dian Hapsari Firasati, adds that apart from this activity, Pertamina has the Pertamina Forest program, where more than six million trees have been planted, spread across Pertamina Forests throughout Indonesia. The total area of Pertamina Forests reaches 629 hectares (ha), including 433 ha of mangrove trees and 196 ha of land trees.
Pertamina's role in tree planting is pivotal in advancing the Net Zero Emission objective by significantly reducing environmental emissions. This action contributes to the decarbonization of more than 120 thousand tons of CO2eq/year carbon emissions.
In addition to its impact on environmental preservation, this program also provides significant economic benefits to 4,783 beneficiaries, in the form of forest product trading activities and tourist attractions, with group revenues averaging IDR 1.8 billion per year. Pertamina Group once again entered the Fortune Indonesia Change The World 2023 list with three flagship programs: Desa Energi Berdikari (DEB), Sustainable Maritime, and Gas Kita. This award was announced at the Fortune Indonesia Summit 2024 in Jakarta on Thursday (7/3).
Change The World is a Fortune Global program awarded to companies with consistently positive impact programs that provide opportunities for communities, the environment, employees, and the company's performance and reputation.

Vice President of CSR & SMEPP of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, added that one of the programs included in this event is DEB, Pertamina's flagship program in empowering communities in villages through renewable energy utilization. By the end of 2023, there were already 85 programs running across Indonesia that had reduced carbon emissions by more than 700 thousand tons of CO2, with more than 300 thousand beneficiaries.
"This is the second award for the Desa Energi Berdikari program from Fortune Indonesia Change The World. We believe that strategic sustainability initiatives, such as DEB, can be the driving force for Pertamina to become a global energy company that creates value and commits to long-term sustainability," said Fajriyah.
In addition, the Integrated Marine Logistic sub-holding of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) also received an award for the Sustainable Maritime program implemented by PIS for the maritime sector, especially in Indonesia.
"We have the BerSEAnergi program. The program focuses on coastal communities to increase economic self-sufficiency, education, and the environment," explained the CEO of PIS, Yoki Firnandi.
At the event, the Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development of Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), Fadli Rahman, achieved an accomplishment by being one of the 40 most influential youths in Indonesia according to Fortune Indonesia, or the '40 Under 40' list.
"This award is an appreciation for all teams at Pertamina NRE, especially the younger generation. It is this hard work that can inspire and influence the younger generation at Pertamina," said Fadli.
