Pertamina and the Indonesian National Police Sign Cooperation Agreement on Securing National Vital Objects

Surabaya, May 8, 2024 - Pertamina and the Indonesian National Police's Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam Polri) have signed a cooperation agreement regarding assistance in securing and handling violations and/or criminal acts at strategic national vital objects and other vital objects within Pertamina’s environment. The agreement was signed in Surabaya on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

The cooperation aims to enhance coordination, supervision, and synergy between Pertamina and the Indonesian National Police, particularly Baharkam Polri, in safeguarding the working environment within Pertamina as an oil and gas company and a renewable energy provider.

"This marks the continuation of the cooperation that was built over time. This cooperation agreement focuses on securing Pertamina's assets as national vital objects," said the Senior Vice President of HSSE of Pertamina, Lelin Eprianto.

According to Lelin, current criminal cases are becoming more sophisticated. "Considering this, Pertamina and Baharkam are engaging in risk mitigation to counter increasingly sophisticated modus operandi," Lelin explained.

The Chief of the Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam) of the Indonesian National Police, Commissioner General Dr. Mohammad Fadil Imran, M.Si., stated that this cooperation reflects the Indonesian National Police's commitment to build synergy in maintaining domestic security, especially within the Pertamina environment.

"Indonesia, as the rightful holder of natural wealth, aims to realize a prosperous and thriving society. Therefore, we must collectively safeguard it," said Fadil in his address.

Furthermore, Fadil emphasized that law enforcement should be measured, targeted, and have significant impacts.

"Conventional law enforcement methods should be abandoned immediately. Pertamina's experience in identifying perpetrators and its technology for uncovering networks serve as potent ammunition, making individuals think twice before engaging in illegal activities against Pertamina," Fadil revealed.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that Pertamina's synergy with the Police is intensive, securing physical assets and non-physical aspects, such as managing Pertamina's image. "We appreciate the support of the Police and various other institutions for Pertamina, enabling us to fulfill our role in safeguarding national energy resilience and distribution to all regions of Indonesia effectively," Fadjar added.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
