Pertamina‌ ‌Assist‌ ‌Fostered‌ ‌MSEs‌ ‌to‌ ‌Increase‌ ‌Turnover‌ ‌during‌ ‌COVID-19‌ ‌Pandemic‌

Jakarta, September 22, 2021 – The COVID-19 pandemic in almost all parts of the world, including Indonesia, has impacted various business sectors. The pandemic has also affected the micro and small enterprises (MSEs) assisted by Pertamina. For this reason, Pertamina, through the MSE Funding Program (PUMK), has taken concrete actions to help MSEs increase turnover during the pandemic.

Acting Senior Vice President Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman explained, to do this, Pertamina assisted MSEs to enter the digital ecosystem or sell products online. It corresponds to the current shopping trend that relies on digital services such as e-commerce platforms.

"This effort is realized through several webinars and training held by Pertamina during the COVID-19 pandemic. The training revolves around the use of social media and the marketplace. The material provided is complete, starting from an instruction to create an advanced account, and manage the digital media," she explained.

One of Pertamina's fostered partners who benefited from the Go Digital development is Defria Amelia Kirana. The business owner of AnnBbaby, based in Jimbaran, Bali, relies on social media as her marketing tool. "Instagram social media @annbbabyshop now has 33.5 thousand followers. Thanks to this online marketing effort, I received IDR 20 – 25 million per month in turnover," she said.

Similarly, Made Diksa Wimona, Denara Duta Mandiri's owner, which produces spa and cosmetic products, also sees a turning point in her business after using the digital method. "A new lesson that I got during the pandemic while being assisted by Pertamina. Offline sales turnover has decreased drastically, only IDR 10 million, but new sales from online have reached IDR 120 million," she explained.

Pertamina is currently aggressively implementing MSE development for Go Digital and Go Online. The ongoing program, namely UMK Academy 2021, is an effort to encourage MSEs to upgrade progressively. The participants of UMK Academy had reached 613 fostered partners. It consists of 31 MSEs from the Go Modern class, 459 MB from the Go Digital and Pinky Movement classes, 80 MB from the Go Online class, and 43 MB from the Go Global class.

In addition, Pertamina is preparing another program to be held next October, namely the Proudly Made in Indonesia East Kalimantan (GBBI Kaltim) and Pertamina SMEXPO 2021. This activity collaborates with the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT), the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenkomarves), East Kalimantan Provincial Government, Bank Indonesia, and other stakeholders.

According to Fajriyah, through the PUMK Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can drive the economy--energy that becomes fuels and energy that produce sustainable growth.

Pertamina also supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) achievement by implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs in all its operational areas. It is part of the Environmental and Social Responsibility (TJSL) to realize economic benefits in the community.**
