Balikpapan – The President Director of Pertamina Massa Manik met and presented aids to the representative of the affected communities and fishermen of Balikpapan Bay incident on Thursday (12/4).
The communities and fishermen who receive this aid has been verified by a team consisting of Pertamina, Government and community. The team recorded the condition of the environment and the affected communities. It is to ensure that both environmental restoration and the aid to communities are right on target and helpful.
The verification team has swept the shore of Balikpapan Bay since Tuesday (10/4). The team is divided into 4 zones. Zone 1 consists of Baru Tengah Village, Baru Ulu Village, Kariangau Village, Margasari Village, and Margo Mulyo Village. Zone 2 comprises of Prapatan Village, Klandasan Ulu Village, Klandasan Ilir Village, and Damai Village. Zone 3 includes Damai Bahagia Village, Damai Baru Village, Gunung Bahagia Village, and Sepinggan Village. Zone 4 consists of Penajam Village.
Massa Manik said that Pertamina gave the relief to ease people’s burden, especially the one that been affencted by oil spill incident in Balikpapan Bay.
“We are grateful to the representatives of affected communities who have been very positive and cooperative in this incidents. Hopefully this aid can ease the burden and increase the spirit of the people, especially the one affected by the incident,” he said.
Muhammad Abdul Muhyi who received the assistance, expressed his gratitude for the aid, and wish that the Balikpapan Bay incident will be put to end soon.
“This incident is unfortunate, no one wants to experience it, we are grateful for this aid,” he said.
As a form of concern and humanity, Pertamina compensated the victim’s family with an employment opportunities. Pertamina also providing corporate social responsibility (CSR) package consist of education and health insurance, and working capital as an economical support.
