Plaju, August 6, 2024 - Condro Kirono, Independent Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero), has confirmed the readiness of the Plaju Refinery to support national energy security, emphasizing the implementation of Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) aspects on the ground.
During his visit to the Plaju Refinery, Condro stressed the importance of adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and continuously mapping potential hazards that could lead to workplace accidents. Maintaining good relations with the surrounding community and providing regular education on HSSE aspects at the refinery were also highlighted.
"The RU III Refinery, which has managed HSSE well, must ensure that HSSE SOPs were implemented correctly, potential hazards are thoroughly mapped, and refinery assets and pipelines maintenance is also prioritized," he stated.
Similarly, Prayitno, Director of Risk Management at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI), during the visit, assured that the management of PT KPI and the Plaju Refinery would maintain the Plaju Refinery's operations as a main energy pillar in the South Sumatra region.
"The well-maintained Plaju Refinery must continue to be the primary support for energy needs in South Sumatra," Prayitno said.
Yulianto Triwibowo, General Manager of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional Plaju Unit, explained the normal operational condition of the Plaju Refinery, from primary to secondary units.
"The Plaju Refinery operates optimally, with all operational units such as the CDU (Crude Distillate Unit), HVU (High Vacuum Unit), FCCU (Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit), Polypropylene, Gas Plant, and UTL running normally, supported by conducive internal and external environments, including stakeholders," Yulianto explained.
The refinery, which spans 400 hectares, produces main products such as fuel, non-fuel products, and LPG, of which 60% are distributed to the South Sumatra region, with some supplied to Java and Kalimantan. Besides fuel and LPG, some of its top products include SBPX, LAWS, Polytam, and Musicool.
With its operational reliability, the Plaju Refinery continues to maintain good operations in supporting the national fuel production targets.
Fadjar Djoko Santoro, Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, added that Pertamina refineries are crucial infrastructure for energy security. Thus, HSSE aspects are implemented according to global standards.
