Pertamina Committed to Strengthening Gas Networks for Energy Transition

Jakarta, July 2, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero) is committed to continuously strengthening the development of household gas networks (jargas) to accelerate energy transition.

In front of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission XI, which discussed the central government's capital injection to state-owned enterprises (SOEs), the Director of Finance of Pertamina, Emma Sri Martini, stated that Pertamina would continue to optimize the utilization of Jargas and Gas Refueling Stations (SPBG) as transitional energy infrastructure to achieve the Net Zero Emissions (NZE) aspiration by 2060.

"In the future, Jargas will play a crucial role in energy transition. Support is certainly needed so that Jargas assets function and perform optimally in the context of implementing the energy transition," said Emma Sri Martini during a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.

According to Emma, the presence of Jargas managed by Pertamina's Gas Subholding, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), has encouraged the public to utilize natural gas for household needs. Additionally, the public has been using gas for transportation through Gas Refueling Stations (SPBG).

Emma added that Pertamina had received Non-Cash State Capital Injections (PMN) for the period 2021 – 2023 in the form of Jargas and SPBG facilities and infrastructure, consisting of 82 Jargas routes, one SPBG, and one SPBG pipeline infrastructure package.

"In terms of PMN Jargas connections, we currently have 426,385 Household Connections (SRT), with the majority spread across Java Island and some in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua," said Emma.

Emma added that the PMN has been well-utilized to provide various energy services for the community and has positively impacted Pertamina's performance.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
