Jakarta, August 27, 2021 – Top 50 finalists of Seed & Scale Pertamuda (Pertamina Youth) Business Idea Competition 2021 that have gone through the curation and filtering phase some time ago, have started participating in the online Demoday on Friday, 27 August 2021. From 50 finalists, 3 winners will be chosen and entitled to a coaching fund of IDR 100 million per winner through a business incubator on their campuses.
Initially, the top 50 Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2021 finalists would take part in the series of hybrid events that were mentoring and pitching on 27 – 29 August 2021 in Bali. However, because of the pandemic and the public activity restrictions (PPKM), as well as other considerations, the mentoring and pitching activities will be carried out online from 27 August to the final pitch on 1 September 2021.
“The pandemic must not slow us down. Even though it cannot be held face-to-face, we hope that it will not reduce its essence by being carried out online. We are doing this following the governments’ regulations regarding PPKM and in controlling the spread of Covid-19. Hopefully next year in 2022 it can be carried out face-to-face,” said Fajriyah Usman, Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of PT Pertamina (Persero).
The 50 finalists who passed come from 23 campuses, namely IPB, ITB, ITK, ITS, Poltek Elektronika Negeri Surabaya, Poltek Negeri Malang, UIN Malang, UGM, UI, Undip, Unud, Unair, Unibraw, Unhas, Unpad, Unila, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha, UPI, Universitas Mulawarman, UNJ, Universitas Riau, UNS, dan Universitas Tanjungpura.
Demographically, the chosen Pertamuda finalists are from 17 provinces, namely DKI Jakarta, West Java, Banten, DIY, Bali, Jambi, East Java, Central Java, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Bangka Belitung, Riau Islands, Lampung, East Nusa Tenggara, Riau, South Sulawesi, and West Sumatera.
Fajriyah said that to develop Indonesia to be more advanced, a lot of young entrepreneurs are needed, who will be the backbone of the national economy.
“Business idea competition for public universities all over Indonesia is Pertamina’s ongoing effort in supporting the collaboration between universities and industries to boost the acceleration of the national entrepreneurship growth, especially those that are based on innovation platform,” she said.
The current process has gone through several phases. Starting from the registration of Pertamuda Seed and Scale 2021 that was opened on 17 June 2021 by President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Nicke Widyawati, until the closing of the registration on 23 July 2021, which received 2025 registrants. Then the socialization phase through a series of 4 workshops until filtering and curation process.**
