Pertamina Continues to Secure Energy Availability Amid the Pandemic, Together with More Than 1,2 Million Workers

Jakarta, August 30, 2020 – PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to ensure the availability of energy to all of Indonesia amid the Covid-19 pandemic to maintain the availability of fuel oil, LPG, and natural gas for the community, which includes various assignments such as the One Price Fuel program.

Therefore to ensure this, Pertamina continues to operate upstream and downstream oil and gas activities and distribution, together with 1.2 million workers from Pertamina, business partners throughout Pertamina's business process ecosystem.

Therefore, despite having to face huge business pressures during the pandemic, Pertamina is trying not to terminate employees (PHK) when other global oil and gas companies and other industries carry out massive layoffs. Pertamina continues to carry out strategic projects that absorb thousands of workers, such as in the RDMP & GRR refinery construction project and other upstream and downstream infrastructure projects, to build national energy security and independence. This extraordinary step is Pertamina's form as SOEs to carries out the mandate and role of driving the national economy and is not only profit-oriented.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, explained that during the pandemic, more than 7,000 petrol stations (SPBU) throughout Indonesia continued to operate with more than 10,000 units of tank trucks and tank crews in charge of distributing fuel. There are also nearly 40,000 LPG retail business partners (agents and sub-agents) with more than 180,000 base outlets. This figure is outside of the 1.2 million estimations of the community-run fuel and LPG retailers.

"Pertamina is committed to prioritizing the continuation of business operations. Therefore it can help the economy of the community, including fuel oil (BBM) and LPG business partners throughout Indonesia," said Fajriyah.

Fajriyah added, per UU No. 30 Tahun 2007 concerning energy, under any circumstances, Pertamina will continue to serve energy to all of the country, including in the Covid-19 condition, which has a significant impact on company performance.

"Pertamina remains consistent in providing affordable energy throughout the country, including One Price Fuel and Pertashop. Therefore, it can keep the business running even though Pertamina has to face the challenges of a sharp decline in demand," added Fajriyah.**
