Pertamina Distributed Energy through Sea Routes Using 302 Cargo Ships During the RAFI Task Force Period

Jakarta, May 6, 2023 – During the 2023 RAFI Task Force period, Pertamina, through its Sub Holding Integrated Marine Logistics, successfully distributed energy using 302 cargo ships, comprising 180 domestic and 24 international vessels.

The number of ships during the RAFI Task Force increased by five from the average of 297 cargo ships. The tonnage increase was seen in 3 ships carrying fuel, one in LPG ship, and one ship carrying Avtur.

Overall, the largest number of transport ships carried fuel with 197, followed by LPG with 43 , crude oil with 30, Avtur with 16, and the rest were ships carrying black oil, lube (PRX), and asphalt.

Vice President Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that during the RAFI Task Force period, the energy needs were well met with the support of hundreds of cargo ships on sea routes.

"The distribution went well. All port operational activities (mooring, departure, agency) and terminals ran smoothly," said Fadjar.

Fadjar added that during the RAFI Task Force period, Pertamina's cargo ship transportation was also escorted by TNI personnel to improve safety and security.

"The increase in cargo surveillance and bunker ships operated by the Sub Holding Integrated Marine Logistics put TNI on eleven (11) ships. It is to improve security and safety," added Fadjar.

Meanwhile, during the 2023 RAFI Task Force period, land transport vehicles increased by 5.6% compared to the 2022 homecoming and return flow. It also contributed to fuel consumption increase, especially gasoline, which increased by 6.4% compared to the average consumption in March 2023.

If gasoline consumption increased, gasoil or diesel, both for retail and industrial needs, experienced a decrease, with around 13% decrease from the normal average. The LPG and Avtur need also slightly decreased compared to average, with LPG decreasing by 1% and Avtur decreasing by 0.6%.

"This shows that most homecoming movements use land transportation. As for Avtur, it did decrease compared to normal consumption, but if compared to the 2022 RAFI, the Avtur consumption increase in the 2023 RAFI Task Force period is significant, reaching 30%," said Fadjar.

In addition to energy services, several Pertamina facilities supported the safe, secure, and comfortable homecoming movements. For example, Pertamina Siaga Houses that provide rest facilities, playgrounds, and health checks before travelers continue their journey.

Fadjar also highly appreciates the close coordination carried out between Pertamina Patra Niaga and various elements and stakeholders in supporting the safe supply and distribution of energy for the community. According to him, all of Pertamina's regular and additional services would not run optimally without sustainable coordination carried out together.

"We express our gratitude to Jasa Marga, BPJT, Police, TNI, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, BPH Migas, and all other stakeholders who contributed to the maximum provision of Pertamina services on all homecoming routes," said Fadjar.**
