Makassar, December 31, 2021 - Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi achieves the highest award in environmental compliance and community empowerment through one of its operational areas. Namely, the Hasanuddin Aircraft Filling Depot (DPPU) located in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi. With this achievement, Pertamina Patra Niaga became the first company in South Sulawesi to receive the award. It also became the second company in Sulawesi after Pertamina Medco JOB Tomori in Central Sulawesi last year.
The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) annually rolls out a company rating program (PROPER). It is based on companies' compliance with environmental aspects, pollution levels, and energy-saving to provide benefits and establish good relations with the surrounding community through its CSR program.
The rankings obtained start from Black PROPER, which means a company is labeled a heavy environmental polluter. It increases through stages of its environmental compliance level to Red PROPER (still have pollution) and Blue (complies with all environmental aspects). If the company carries out good CSR towards the surrounding community, it is entitled to get the Green PROPER title. If the company meets this standard for three years, it will be nominated for a Gold Award. It is the highest prize granted to companies that are not only environmentally conscious but also deliver significant additional value to society through social innovation. The assessment is carried out independently by the PROPER Board consisting of experts representing several elements, namely the Press, Academics, Environmental Observers for Women and Children, as well as Public and Consumer Policies.
The 2021 Gold PROPER Award was only given to 47 companies in Indonesia, one of which was DPPU Hasanuddin which was the first company in Sulawesi to win the highest award. The award was handed over directly by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma'ruf Amin and received by the Operation Head of DPPU Hasanuddin Yudho Wibowo at the Vice President's Palace on Tuesday (28/12).
Executive GM Patra Niaga Sulawesi Region, Agus Dwi Jatmoko, said this achievement is proof that Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi CSR is not only giving donations. However, the program is more towards social innovation, which is carried out through measurable social mapping, research on social innovation that has received affirmations from several universities and technology centers as well as good relations with the community to create a shared value (CSV). "This is a public and government acknowledgment that our CSR is 'not cans'," said Agus.
Separately, the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, gave his appreciation to Pertamina DPPU Hasanuddin, who succeeded in setting a record as the first company to win PROPER Gold in the region. Through the Provincial Environment & Forestry Agency, he encourages all companies to be like Pertamina. Therefore it can create environmentally sound development. "On behalf of the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, I am very proud and congratulate Pertamina DPPU Hasanuddin as the first PROPER Gold-winning company in South Sulawesi. Hopefully, this achievement can push towards a better South Sulawesi and can be imitated by other companies here," he said.
Synbiotic Feed Overcomes Anxiety of Windu Shrimp Farmers
This year's Gold PROPER achievement was due to DPPU Hasanudin's flagship program, namely the discovery of Synbiotic Feed which has succeeded in driving environmentally friendly cultivation patterns and adding economic value to several shrimp farmers and ranchers in South Sulawesi.
The program was initially initiated by DPPU Hasanuddin in 2018 by conducting a series of research to try to mix probiotic bacteria in the oil catcher to reduce oil and fat pollution with microorganisms.
From the development of research with several parties including AIAT Bali & Maros, Hasanuddin University, and Muhammadiyah University Makassar, then probiotic and prebiotic bacteria were melted into Sinbiotic feed then Pertamina transferred knowledge to Laikang youth with the concept of Corporate Shared Value.
By Laikang youth, this probiotic research was developed into various products for agriculture and fisheries to bring added value to both the youth group itself, agricultural groups, and other groups.
Chairman of the PROPER Advisory Council Prof. Sudharto P Hadi, MES Ph.D., who also served as the rector of Diponegoro University, said that this achievement deserves to be achieved by DPPU Hasanuddin. Through social eco-innovation, it can create products that can overcome the problems of tiger shrimp farmers who fail to export. "This discovery is a social innovation that can overcome the biggest problems of shrimp farmers. Hopefully, it can be replicated outside Sulawesi as well so that the PROPER Council gives this award," he said when asked what made DPPU Hasanuddin worthy of this award.
Agus Dwi Jatmoko continued that 1,625 tons of synbiotic feed products have been sold with a turnover of 53 million, with the profit of each member of the feed processing group in Laikang earning an income of 750 thousand / month. "The impact obtained by farmers is an increase in income for each harvest of Rp. 13,510,000 / harvest/person, which is obtained from the efficiency of using feed by 38%. to increase 1 kg of shrimp weight which previously required 1.8 kg of feed to 1.1 kg of feed," concluded Agus.
With more efficient use of feed, the Food Conversion Ratio (FCR) increases, which is indicated by less undigested feed residue and the performance of bacteria to break down the pollutant load of post-harvest pond water discharge by 99.98%. The use of synbiotic feed is a change in the use of antibiotics that have been used by the general public, which causes tiger shrimp to fail to export. The difference from the previous system is that synbiotic feeds do not leave residues and do not cause disease resistance in cultivated cultivars.
DPPU Hasanuddin has implemented the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and has won the Green PROPER award from 2018 - 2020. Furthermore, through its social innovation program, it has earned the TJSL (Environmental Social Responsibility) event's third-place Social Pillar award and the BUMN Track's 2021 CSR Award, as well as other honors from competent external authorities.**
