Jakarta, October 25, 2020 - PT Pertamina (Persero) through the Partnership Program fully supports the efforts to process local food into Go Modern MSMEs products. Therefore, these products can meet the community's needs while opening up job opportunities for local residents.
One of Pertamina's fostered MSMEs engaged in the local food processing business is Ico Ordiana. This Gerai Amanah business owner processes various local products that are cheap and easy to get, such as cassava, sweet potatoes, and various kinds of fish. "In 2006, she started a fish processing business, and then it expanded into other ingredients," she said.
Ico Ordiana, or who is familiarly called Diana, has diversified products, both in frozen food and dry food products. The products produced include fish chips, fish balls, fish cake (mpek-mpek), frozen cassava, purple sweet potato rengginang, and mocaf flour.
Diana has continuously carried out several innovations. Pertamina's Go Modern guidance was immediately implemented to increase its products' selling power, such as repairing safe and good packaging, to the requirements and permits needed for the product to circulate widely have been fulfilled.
This processed product has been certified halal and Home Industry Sertification (PIRT : Produk Industri Rumah Tangga) to be an added value to the processed product produced. "In one month we need as much as 100 kg of cassava which we get from farmers in Kerinci and farmers in markets. We turn this cassava into a variety of special dishes," said Diana.
Currently, marketing for processed cassava is sent to the largest retail supermarkets in Jambi City, malls, food stores, office canteens, and online sales through social media Facebook (Iwapi Amanah by Jambi) and Instagram (@pempektekwan.amanahco) as well as through online motorcycle taxis under the trademark "IWA-QU."
In managing her business, Diana is assisted by five employees at her house. They can produce dozens of packs of products every day. The products sold are also priced quite affordable. It starts from IDR 10 thousand for cassava processing to IDR 50 thousand for large packaged fish processed products. With that price range, Diana can pocket a turnover of IDR 60 to IDR 70 million per month.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, added that all Pertamina fostered partners will receive similar guidance to Diana. They will be nurtured so that they can move up the class with parameters, namely having a business license and related certification and an increase in turnover and labor. "By upgrading the MSMEs class, it is hoped that they can become independent and contribute to the nation's economic independence," she said.
Before that, Pertamina would usually pay more attention to basic guidance first, such as obtaining business permits or other certificates. After that, Pertamina pushes traditional MSMEs to Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, and Go Global. "This is an implementation of the Goal 8 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is hoped that it can help people get decent jobs and encourage national economic growth," concluded Fajriyah.**
