Pertamina Encourages Inclusivity in the Workplace Through PERTIWI Community

Jakarta, May 5, 2023 – In order to promote inclusivity in its entire work environment, PT Pertamina (Persero), through the Pertamina Tough Inspirational Women of Integrity Community (PERTIWI) held the 2023 Kick-Off Programs and Inspiring Talkshow with the theme "He for She: Men as Allies in Achieving Gender Equality in Business." The event took place at the Grha Pertamina Ballroom (4/5/2023).

PERTIWI Pertamina is a community of Pertamina employees that promote inclusivity, especially in the gender, in business and leadership in Pertamina. Its members are not limited to female but also male employees who support gender inclusion within the company.

This year, PERTIWI Pertamina introduced several programs focused on developing the capabilities of both female employees and young talents within the company to prepare them for future leadership positions in Pertamina.

The programs promoted by PERTIWI Pertamina aim to increase the number of women in leadership positions. By the end of 2022, it had reached 18.1%, up from 14% at the end of 2021. In 2023, PERTIWI Pertamina is increasing its target to over 20%, in line with the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises' target.

To achieve this target, PERTIWI Pertamina is currently conducting Coaching & Mentoring for Aspiring Women Leaders at Pertamina, with 95 coaches and 402 coachees. It also has had 173 counseling sessions as a concrete step towards promoting respectful workplaces.

Director of Human Resources of Pertamina, M. Erry Sugiharto, hopes that the presence of PERTIWI Pertamina can be an inclusive catalyst in the company's activities, which will help all employees unleash their best potential in contributing maximally to the company.

"Pertamina hopes that PERTIWI's activities this year can be an important milestone towards increasing awareness among male employees and leaders in Pertamina and other state-owned enterprises to support their female counterparts to unleash their best potential as leaders in the company," said Erry.

On the same occasion, Finance Director and Chair of the PERTIWI Pertamina Community of Pertamina, Emma Sri Martini, stated that PERTIWI had made many contributions to the company through various programs it has and by involving the directors in them.

"After two years of PERTIWI's formation, many contributions are made to the company, including policies, training and coaching programs, sharing sessions, and even collaborating with knowledge partners. There will be more programs that will promote women's empowerment and leadership in the Pertamina Group environment, which will involve the director level. Therefore, it is expected that the programs will provide more optimal contributions," said Emma.

The Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Technology, and Information of the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry, Tedi Bharata, and the Chair of the Srikandi State-Owned Enterprises, Tina T. Kemala Intan, appreciated PERTIWI Pertamina's concrete actions.

PERTIWI Pertamina's initiative follows the larger framework to ensure Pertamina's business sustainability that supports diversity. It is a significant part of ensuring Pertamina's relevance in the future.

The programs implemented by PERTIWI Pertamina are expected to be replicated in other state-owned enterprises so it can have a concrete impact on the development of women in Indonesia.**
