Pertamina Encourages MSMEs to Upgrade to Use Non-subsidized LPG

Jakarta, November 28, 2020 - PT Pertamina (Persero) encourages more targeted LPG use. Pertamina projects that 75% of 3 kilograms of LPG will be used for household needs, 17% for MSMEs, and the remaining 8% for farmers and fishers.

Heppy Wulansari, Acting Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, said that through the Pinky Movement program, Pertamina encourages businesses that are no longer included in the micro business category to upgrade to non-subsidized LPG or Bright Gas.

"Through the pinky movement program, Pertamina will continue to disseminate information to MSMEs to be able to upgrade using non-subsidized LPG Bright Gas so that its utilization is right on target," said Heppy, Wednesday (25/11).

Also, Pertamina will give appreciation to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) who use non-subsidized LPG gas. One form of appreciation given is a loan facility for business capital under the Pinky Movement program.

Pinky Movement is a business capital loan program, namely to MSMEs LPG outlets to develop business by selling non-subsidized LPG and MSMEs using subsidized LPG who wish to switch to using non-subsidized LPG or culinary MSMEs who wish to develop their business by utilizing non-subsidized LPG.

The Pinky Movement program has targeted at least 2,000 outlets and 100 small businesses using subsidized LPG.

According to Heppy, this program is part of corporate social investment, known as Creating Shared Value.

"Pertamina offers low-cost loan financing to MSMEs that have LPG sales businesses or other businesses in the culinary sector and intend to expand their business by utilizing non-subsidized LPG," said Heppy.

Arya Dwi Paramita, Vice President of CSR and SMEPP of Pertamina, said that following the road map for the Pinky Movement program would continue until 2023. The acceleration of MSMEs in upgrading gives a multiplier effect and a high enough social impact, so the Pinky Movement has the potential to be continued with the addition of more MSMEs targets, namely the industrial sector and the livestock sector.

"These two sectors occupy the second position after the trade and culinary sector. Besides that, they have the potential to use LPG in running a business," said Arya.

Throughout 2020, the Pinky Movement program focused mostly on outreach activities to the region and fostered partners in April - June 2020. Furthermore, in June - December 2020, the program focused on fulfilling document requirements, verification, and funds' disbursement.

"After participating in this program, MSMEs will participate in various coaching programs to move up the class, from training programs, opening market access, certification and licensing, mentoring and coaching as well as awarding for outstanding MSMEs," said Arya.

To support MSMEs in upgrading, Pertamina has eight excellent programs, namely Pertamina UMKM Academy; certification and licensing; display of SME products at airports, hotel lobbies, and state-owned Pertamina houses; E-learning; MSMEs publications; sales of MSMEs through e-commerce; Pertamina SME 1000 Catalog, and Exhibition / virtual exhibition.**
