Pertamina Encourages the Independence of MSMEs, Here's the Story of Fostered Partners with Disabilities Empowering Others to Accompany School Dropouts  

Jakarta, November 18, 2020 - Support from PT Pertamina (Persero) to MSMEs through the Partnership Program embodied in a guidance roadmap scheme. Starting from traditional conditions,

 Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, to Go Global. Everything is given to the fostered partners indiscriminately to encourage MSMEs to be superior and independent.

One of the beneficiaries of the Partnership Program is Nurjannah. The owner of Batik Mayana MSMEs, which is based in Ternate City, is unique. Why not, even in a condition with disabilities, her enthusiasm to benefit others is burning.

"My husband and I are disabled. But I want to learn business, finally starting in 2013, I'm engaged in the culinary field. Many friends are curious, how can it be with conditions like me to run a business. Finally, I also did training for people with disabilities," explained Jannah.

The entire training is provided free of charge. Until finally, she also founded the Special Skills Education Institute for people with disabilities, school dropouts, and widows. "All of them we guide so that they can make their own and independent businesses," she added.

Until now, there are around 34 workers who help her business. As many as 32 people of whom are people with disabilities. The conditions also vary. However, Jannah can arrange and provide suitable portions for those who help her. "They are very enthusiastic and productive at work," she said.

According to Jannah, the peak of her business success came during the Covid-19 pandemic conditions like today. In addition to making batik, the woman is known as the owner of a multi-purpose business also produces several instant herbal drinks like ginger coffee and instant guraka water. Besides that, the garment business that is being undertaken is also not dead. With her creativity, Jannah innovated to produce PPE in the form of cloth masks. Sure enough, the demand was high enough to have to add workers. "So we can involve many disabled workers to help, this is a blessing for them," she said.

With her current business, Jannah can generate a turnover of up to IDR 100 million per month.

Under Pertamina's guidance, Jannah hopes that her business will be able to develop even more rapidly to empower people who need to be able to work. "We want to develop this business so that there are more jobs for people with disabilities, school dropouts, and people in need," explained this 39-year-old woman.
