Pertamina Ensures Energy Supply Availability in Areas Affected by Flash Floods in West Sumatra

Jakarta, May 13, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero) ensures that energy supply availability is fulfilled amidst the impact of flash floods in the West Sumatra region, which occurred on Saturday (11/5/2024).

"Pertamina, through the Sumbagut Regional, ensures that energy availability in disaster-affected areas fulfills the local community’s needs in West Sumatra," explained Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero).

Area Manager of Comm, Rel, & CSR of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Sumbagut Region, Susanto August Satria detailed efforts to ensure energy supply availability in disaster-affected areas in West Sumatra (Sumbar). Pertamina activated an alternative tanker route scheme to anticipate the natural disaster impact that cut off access roads to several districts and cities in West Sumatra.

According to him, the flash floods and cold lava floods have impacted the energy distribution routes to petrol stations, especially in Tanah Datar District, Bukittinggi City, Agam District, Payakumbuh City, and Limapuluh Kota District.

"Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sumbagut activated an alternative tanker route scheme to supply energy (fuel) to affected petrol stations," he said (12/5/2024).

Satria continued that the mechanism of this alternative route scheme diverted fuel supply to Agam District, Tanah Datar District, and Bukittinggi City through the Fuel Terminal (FT) Sei Siak, Riau. Previously, petrol stations in some affected areas were supplied through the Integrated Terminal (IT) Teluk Kabung, West Sumatra.

"On Sunday (12/5), through the supply transfer and alternative scheme carried out by FT Sei Siak located in Riau Province, 80 KL of Pertalite and 80 KL of Biosolar were distributed to 12 petrol stations located in Limapuluh Kota District (four petrol stations), Payakumbuh City (six petrol stations), Bukittinggi City (one petrol station), and Agam District (one petrol station)," he stated.

Satria added that LPG supply to petrol stations located in cities will be provided by the Integrated Terminal (IT) Dumai.

"Amid the significant road infrastructure damage, we are coordinating internally and externally to ensure energy distribution, both fuel and LPG, continues to fulfill the community's energy needs. Every day, we will evaluate these alternative routes while observing the temporary road infrastructure repairs," Satria concluded.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
