August 17, 2021 - Through its Upstream Subholding, Pertamina continues to support the nation's energy. Its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore Southeast Sumatra (PHE OSES), part of the Upstream Subholding Java Region, has successfully completed drilling the Fanny-2 Exploration Well with the status of Oil and Gas Discovery well.
As of April 1, 2021, PHE OSES exploration activities are in the Upstream Subholding Exploration Java Region. Moreover, the drilling of the Fanny-2 Well was implementing a post-restructuring regional strategy to accelerate the development of undeveloped resources in the Angel Cluster Area. Therefore, it is hoped that this area can immediately support sustainable production in the PHE OSES Area and support the National oil production target of 1 million barrels per day and gas of 12 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2030. It also shows that the post-restructuring of PT Pertamina (Persero) with the establishment of the subholding after more than a year has shown positive benefits with integrated operations.
The location of the Fanny-2 Well is in the OSES Block Central Business Unit (CBU) District, precisely in the Angel Cluster Exploration Complex area, which is about 2 Km in the west of Sabira Island, Kepulauan Seribu, and is included in the Administrative Area of the Kepulauan Seribu Regency. In particular, this Angel Cluster is an exploration priority area. In this area, several structures of oil and gas findings still require additional data for field development.
The Fanny-2 Well was drilled on March 13, 2021, and completed (Rig Release) on June 24, 2021. The purpose of drilling the Fanny-2 Well was to confirm the amount of oil and gas resources in the Fanny Structure. This well found oil and gas in the sandstone layer of the Talang Akar Formation with the production test results at the Lower Zelda layer 44 (DST#2) is flowing gas of 4.95 mmscfd and condensate of 241 BCPD at choke openings 28/64". In addition, oil was found from the results of the circulation process to the surface in the Middle Zelda Layer in DST#3.
"The discovery of oil and gas from the Fanny-2 Well is proof that new ideas and enthusiasm in working on brownfields, such as the OSES block, are giving positive results," said Medi Kurniawan, Exploration Director of Upstream Subholding. "Congratulations to PHE OSES, especially the exploration team, all the best for the discovery of the next well," said Medi Kurniawan.
"The Fanny-2 Well Discovery is expected to be followed by the successful drilling of the next exploration wells. There are still 3 (three) prospects in the Angel Cluster area which operation will be accelerated, namely Nani, Villani, and Tati, for drilling execution in 2022-2023. Completing exploration in the Angel Cluster is one of the priorities of the Java Region. So undeveloped resources in the Angel Cluster area can be immediately monetized and contribute to oil and gas production at PHE OSES and Pertamina Upstream Subholding in general", as stated by Muharram Jaya Panguriseng, Exploration VP Java Regional in his written statement today.
With the support from all stakeholders in Zone 6, Java Regional, and the Upstream Subholding, the entire drilling operation can be adequately completed in 109 days with zero LTI. Thus, operations can be carried out smoothly amid the COVID-19 Pandemic with the results of zero COVID-19 cases proving that with good planning and mitigation, field operations with this high-risk category can still be carried out with proper control.
