Pertamina Gas Subholding Invites People to Use Natural Gas and Its Advantages in Southern Central Java and DIY
Jakarta, June 16, 2022 – PT PGN Tbk, Pertamina Gas Subholding, is expanding the natural gas use for households and commercial entrepreneurs in the Central Java, especially in southern regions such as Yogyakarta City, Sleman, Bantul, Kulon Progo, Klaten, Gunung South, Kebumen, Cilacap, Karang Anyar, Sukoharjo, Purworejo, Magelang Regency and City. PGN seeks to accelerate the gas network construction and socialize the natural gas to the people.
Director of Sales and Operations of PGN, Faris Aziz, explained that using natural gas has many advantages. First, it is more practical because gas is channeled using pipes to save space and is practical to use. For customers far from the natural gas distribution pipeline, PGN can serve using a non-pipelined mode, such as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Natural gas is also more reliable.
Natural gas supply is always available with guaranteed quality. Customers do not have to worry about running out of gas because it is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Payment for jargas is also practical and can be done online, such as through Tokopedia, Gopay, Shopee, and LinkAja. In addition, information on gas usage can be viewed through the PGN Mobile application.
“During usage, the measurements are automatically recorded accurately in the system, and the gas used is what is paid. Customers only had to pay for gas once a month, between the 6th and the 20th, based on the amount of usage recorded in the system," explained Faris (15/6/2022).
In terms of price, Faris explained that by using natural gas, customers would save 20-25 percent compared to using gas cylinders.
“The equipment used in the gas line is guaranteed to be safe and complete because the pipe network equipment is according to standards and installed by certified technicians. In addition, we carry out regular network maintenance for users’ convenience," Faris explained.
Not only for household kitchen stoves, but natural gas can also be used for business or commercial. Natural gas can be used to fuel boilers, ovens, stoves, rice cookers, water heaters, and laundry. The advantages remain the same; more efficient, safe, available 24 hours, and practical.

For the content, natural gas is a fossil fuel with 92 percent methane (CH4) as the largest component. Natural Gas is one of the safest, cleanest, and environmentally friendly fuels, as it produces less pollution than other fossil fuel sources such as petroleum and coal.
Natural gas for households also has the advantage of being safer because it has a pressure below 100 millibars. Technically, it falls into the category of low-pressure gas. If there is a leak, there is no need to panic. The first step is to close the gas tap and then a window or vent so that the gas immediately decomposes in the open air.

PGN targets to build four million house connections (SR) by 2024. The jargas program is also a national strategic program and part of the Indonesian President’s idea to realize energy sovereignty.
With a calculation of one million SR per year, jargas can reduce LPG imports by 144 million Kg per year, save household spending, reduce pollution, and support its growth. During the construction of gas lines, it can create jobs in the field project and operational personnel and absorb 83 thousand workers.**
