Jakarta, March 18, 2022 – PT PGN Tbk, a Pertamina Gas Subholding, targets to build a gas network of 240 thousand in Jabodetabek, Karawang, Cilegon, and Cirebon.
In 2022, especially in DKI Jakarta, PGN plans to build approximately 92 thousand Household Connections (SR) through an internal investment scheme. In addition, PGN also plans to build 62 thousand SR through a cooperation scheme with partners, to reach an estimated 154 thousand SR gas connections in DKI Jakarta in 2022.
DKI Jakarta Province will be one of the priorities for domestic gas connection development during the next five years.
"There are 30,491 SR customers in DKI Jakarta. Household gas connections in DKI Jakarta will increase every year. In 2021 it added up to 100%. There will be plans to add a larger number in 2022," Faris Aziz, Director of PGN Operations and Sales, said (17/03/2022).
"PGN uses three strategies for household gas lines constructions in DKI Jakarta. First is penetration, which will add new customers around the existing infrastructure. Second, development by adding new customers through the additional main pipelines from the existing infrastructure. Third is beyond the pipeline, which is adding new customers far from the existing infrastructure by using CNG/LNG,” Achmad Muchtasyar, Director of PGN Infrastructure and Technology, explained.
"We need to synergize with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to accelerate the construction of gas lines. The synergies include aligning the gas connections program with the development of existing regional facilities and infrastructure, as well as outreaching to the public regarding natural gas usage as a fuel that is safer and environmentally friendly,” Sonny Rahmawan Abdi, General Manager of PGN Sales Operation Region (SOR) 2 for the West Java region, added.
Until 2024, PGN will build gas infrastructure for 4 million SR. With a basis of 1 million SR per year, it will provide benefits for DKI Jakarta, including savings on household energy expenditures for the people of DKI Jakarta by up to 20%, absorbing ± 12 thousand workers in the project and operational fields, optimizing PGN and Jakpro cooperation, reducing pollution and supporting Blue Sky Jakarta program.
Currently, PGN is actively holding hearings with several Regional Heads of Tk II in Greater Jakarta, Cilegon, Cirebon, and Karawang. With the target of building a gas line of 1 million SR per year, support from the City Government and local Government is needed to accelerate the construction of a gas line in the area.
PGN expects local government support developing natural gas infrastructure in the form of permits and easy access, including public socialization for the use of natural gas.
PGN, a Gas Subholding and part of Pertamina's Oil and Gas Holding, is committed to providing the best contribution through natural gas services for the household sector to improve people's welfare and encourage national economic growth.**
