Jakarta, June 16, 2022 – PT PGN Tbk, a Pertamina Gas Subholding, is committed to carrying out government assignments and realizing the Power Plant Gasification Project as stipulated in the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 2 of 2022. One of the targets in progress is ten points in the Nusa Tenggara (Nusra) and Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Clusters which are currently entering the permitting stage for the Conformity of Marine Space Utilization Activities (KKPRL) of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
The Nusa Tenggara Cluster (NTB & NTT) consists of:
1. Jeranjang-Lombok NTB at MPP Jeranjang and PLTG/PLTGU Lombok Peaker
2. Sumbawa NTB at PLTMG Sumbawa
3. Bima NTB at PLTMG Bima
4. Rangko-Flores NTT at PLTMG Rangko (Flores)
5. Maumere NTT at PLTMG Maumere
6. Alor NTT at PLTMG Alor
7. Waingapu NTT at PLTMG Waingapu
8. Kupang NTT at PLTMG Kupang
Southeast Sulawesi Cluster (Southeast Sulawesi)
1. Konawe-Kendari at PLTMG Kendari
2. Smells at PLTMG Bau-Bau
Natural gas needs for the Nusra and Southeast Sulawesi clusters are planned to be supplied via LNG from Bontang, with a total demand for the Nusra cluster of around 28 BBTUD and for Southeast Sulawesi around 4 BBTUD.
Director of Infrastructure and Technology of PGN, Achmad Muchtasyar, stated that PGN is committed to undergoing the entire power plant regasification project according to the applicable regulations. The KKPRL approval regarding the Jetty Facility is one of the important stages where the facility will be utilized in the LNG transfer process as a mode of inter-island gas transportation.
"There are several PLTMG regasification locations included in the Marine Conservation Zone, namely Alor PLTMG, Waingapu PLTMG and Kupang PLTMG. Thus, the infrastructure planning must be sophisticated. Thus, it is in accordance with PGN's commitment to implement safe and sustainable natural gas operations, and every aspect implemented must be considered. PGN is very concerned about environmental aspects and the safety of the ecosystem around the project that maintains the continuity of life and marine habitats around it," explained Achmad (14/06/2022).
Achmad added that the environmental conditions for regasification are also challenging because the power plants are generally located on the coast with fairly high waves and rocky soil.
For PGN, the regasification project at power plants is a bridging or entry point for all segments of natural gas users, including industrial, commercial, MSMEs, households, and transportation PGN, as Pertamina's gas sub-holding, will enter the Eastern Indonesia market to meet the need for natural gas anchoring from numerous PLN power plant locations that have been determined, allowing natural gas utilization expansion for all parts of the country to be accomplished quickly.
"If the gas is already in several locations in Nusa Tenggara and Southeast Sulawesi, it will be easy for PGN to enter the retail sectors around the area," Achmad said.
PGN is committed to expanding and increasing the natural gas use nationally and in an integrated manner to serve natural gas needs from upstream to downstream as well as being a real solution to the natural gas use as an environmentally friendly transitional energy towards net-zero emissions.**
