Balikpapan, June 17, 2022 - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), part of Zone Eight Kalimantan Regional Subholding Upstream, succeeded in carrying out on-stream gas activities from the Jumelai Project second platform, North Sisi, North Nubi (JSN), namely WPS-3 on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Sisi Nubi Square, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. After the first JML1 platform onstream success, the first gas flow from the WPS-3 platform indicates that PHM has officially increased gas production in the JSN Project from the SS-301 well by 22.51 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd).
General Manager of PHM, Krisna, said that PHM's success in delivering gas from the JSN project, both from the first and second platforms, is the Company's commitment to realizing a work program supported by the oil and gas incentive receipt approval from the government.
"Since the oil and gas incentives approval was given in 2021, all management levels and PHM workers have continued to take various strategic steps to realize the work program that has been approved. In addition to increasing drilling activities, we have succeeded in finding new oil and gas reserve sources from exploration and exploitation activities that can support Indonesia's oil and gas production targets in 2030," Krisna said.
In addition, PHM also applies the best engineering practices in maintaining and improving the reliability of its decades-old oil and gas operation and production facilities to continue operating optimally. "With the incentives given, PHE investment and production continuity can be maintained. Thus, the energy supply for national needs can be achieved," he concluded.
Senior Manager of Subsurface Development & Planning of PHM, Ferico Afrinas, said gas reserves from the Plan of Development for the North Sisi North Nubi Field are estimated at 82 BSCF with 626 Mstb of condensate. "In addition to the two onstream wells, namely SS-301 & 302, PHM is currently focusing on completing drilling and production operations in the remaining ten wells. It is planned that additional production will be produced through the SS-302 well, which also comes from the same platform," Ferico said.
Meanwhile, the Senior Project Manager of PHM, Setyo Sapto Edi, explained that the WPS-3 platform has a design production capacity of up to 45 MMscfd, and PHM has successfully completed the third platform construction project. "PHM has completed the construction of the third platform, WPN-4, which has been Ready for Drilling since February 22, 2022, and is currently still in the drilling process that is targeted to be onstream in August 2022," Edi said.
With three platforms for the JSN Project planned operation, PHM is estimated to increase gas production by 135 MMscfd and support 20 percent of oil and gas production by 2024.**
