Pertamina NRE - Huawei Collaborates to Develop Renewable Energy and Smart Grid
Shenzhen, January 29, 2024 - Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding to develop renewable energy and a smart grid in Indonesia on Thursday (11/1).
The signing was conducted by Director of Projects & Operations of Pertamina NRE, Norman Ginting, and the Head of Department of Digital Power Business of Huawei Tech Investment, Jing Song. The collaboration will include innovation and technology development in smart grid, distributed generation, and digitalization.
"We welcome the strategic collaboration with Huawei. We hope that Huawei's experience in renewable energy technology can support Pertamina NRE's aspirations in developing a low-carbon business and energy transition," said Norman.
This collaboration is expected to bring breakthroughs in renewable energy development projects in Indonesia, strengthening Pertamina NRE's operational excellence through digitalization and smart grid applications. In this collaboration, Pertamina NRE and Huawei will engage in extensive studies to explore knowledge-sharing and technical studies related to projects that will be identified and agreed upon together.
Representing Huawei, Jing Song expressed that this collaboration is expected to benefit Indonesian society. The partnership aims to bolster national energy resilience by advancing clean energy through renewable energy and smart grid technologies
"We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration; we believe Pertamina is serious in green energy development," explained Jing Song.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, revealed that Pertamina is developing new renewable energy to support the Net Zero Emission 2060 target.
"Collaborations are continuously pursued with various parties because renewable energy development requires collaboration and high technology," said Fadjar.
