August 21, 2023 - The Pertamina Group contributed to the success of President Jokowi's first visit to Africa from August 20 to 24, 2023.
In Kenya, on Monday, August 21, 2023, as the first country visited, Pertamina, through its subsidiaries Pertamina Internasional Eksplorasi dan Produksi (PIEP) and Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), explored collaboration opportunities by reaching agreements with energy companies in Kenya. This collaboration involves potential development in the upstream and geothermal sectors.
Nicke Widyawati, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), stated that this collaboration embodies Pertamina's spirit as a state-owned enterprise, carrying forth the government's commitment to bilateral relations with African countries, including Kenya.
"We bring the government's spirit, the essence of the 1955 Asian-African Conference in Bandung. Currently, we are collaborating to drive economic development. Pertamina itself opens opportunities for cooperation, from upstream to downstream sectors, including geothermal in Kenya," said Nicke.
According to Nicke, in every collaboration undertaken by the Pertamina Group, priority is given to collaborations that benefit Indonesia. "The spirit is to bring the barrel home. Pertamina's footprint in the upstream sector aims to increase production, which can then be refined in Pertamina's domestic refineries, thus enhancing our national energy resilience," she added.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
