Lombok, October 10, 2023 – The prestigious world racing event MotoGP, Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, will return to Mandalika from October 13-15. Fans and the riders were eagerly waiting for the race at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, with Mandalika, one of the most beautiful circuits in the world.
Pertamina's support for the 2023 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia's success does not stop at the racing event readiness but also extends to energy supply. This energy supply aims at logistical mobility, the people's mobility coming to Lombok, restaurants and hospitality, and the daily needs of the local population in Lombok.
"We ensure and guarantee the safety of energy stocks and distribution. In addition to normal services, Pertamina Patra Niaga will also have main facilities on standby and provide additional services to support the smooth supply of energy for the needs of MotoGP and the daily needs of the community," explained Riva Siahaan, President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga.
Riva ensures that fuel, LPG, and aviation fuel (Avtur) stocks are sufficient. Furthermore, there will be an extended operating hour on the main facilities critical to the success of MotoGP, such as Avtur supply at Lombok International Airport (BIL) and the Fuel Terminal (FT) in Ampenan for fuel.
Starting from October 5 to October 17, to anticipate a projected increase in Avtur demand of up to 190% from the daily distribution, the Aircraft Refueling Depot (Depot Pengisian Pesawat Udara or DPPU) at BIL will operate 24/7 to meet the Avtur needs of logistics aircraft, charter planes, and the increased flight schedules to and from Lombok during the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia.
For fuel, the projection shows an increase of around 43% from daily consumption, which is why FT Ampenan, as the backbone of fuel supply in Lombok, will extend its operating hours from 02:00 WITA (Western Indonesian Time), which usually begins at 06:00 WITA, and add operational service hours on Sundays.
"Our efforts were initiated well in advance, considering that the preparations for MotoGP in Mandalika began several days ago when logistics transport planes were already coming in and out of Lombok, and operational logistics vehicles needed a reliable supply of Avtur and BBM. These efforts will continue until the entire Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia ends," he stated.
In addition to ensuring stocks and standby facilities, Riva also announced that Pertamina Patra Niaga would establish 24-hour-operating gas stations on major routes, provide a dedicated Pertamax Turbo unit for operational racing consumption, including the safety car, and have agents and LPG stations operating on holidays to meet the needs of the community.
"So, besides securing our supply chain upstream, Pertamina Patra Niaga also ensures that our distribution network is ready to handle the surge in energy demand. As the main event approaches, there will certainly be an increased need for fuel for the mobility of the public and spectators and an increased demand for LPG in restaurants and hospitality. We will be prepared and ensure these needs are met satisfactorily," Riva concluded.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), added that the Pertamina Group would fully support the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, one of the major international sporting events. "Besides Pertamina, this event also involves the synergy of various state-owned enterprises (BUMN), so it not only makes the event a success but also has a positive impact on the national economy, the local area, and the community," Fadjar said.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
