Pertamina – Perindo Synergize to Distribute Capital Funds and Assist Certification for Shrimp Farmers

Jakarta, July 5, 2021 – The potential of Indonesia’s fisheries sector, both aquaculture and capture fisheries is quite large. PT Pertamina (Persero), as one of the strategic SOEs in Indonesia, utilizes this potential through MSE Funding Program by helping fostered partners in the fisheries sector to be upgraded MSEs. One of them is by synergizing with other SOEs.

This real act is proven by the ongoing synergy with Perum Perindo (Indonesian Fisheries). This synergy between both SOEs is a form of SOEs’ role as development agents for Indonesia or SOEs for Indonesia.

“The development of this sector targets fishermen, fish farmers, and other businessmen in the fisheries sector. They are assisted until they are able to increase their production and accepted in the market,” said Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communication & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman.

According to Fajriyah, Pertamina and Perum Perindo collaborate to disribute business capital to fostered partners who are members of Forum Silaturahmi Petambak Udang Plasma Bratasena (FORSIL). “Pertamina has a role of being a provider of capital funds, while Perum Perindo has a role of assisting and coaching fostered partners to become upgraded MSEs,” she said.

This synergy successfully helped more than 800 shrimp farmers in Bratasena Adiwarna dan Mandiri Village, Tulang Bawang Regency, Lampung. Moreover, this synergy also helped 219 farmers in obtaining farmer certification so that their productions can achieve CBIB (Cara Budidaya Ikan yang Baik) standards. All of the certification costs come from Pertamina’s coaching fund.

Not only providing capital, Pertamina also takes part in the technical assistance process. Such as giving cultivation coaching, to the marketing process. Therefore, business actors in the fisheries sector are hoped to be strong and independent MSEs.

One of the fostered shrimp farmer partners who received certification assistance was Agus Sunarko. The 40-year-old man is proud that he passed the profession certification as Operator Pembesaran Udang Air Payau issued by the Marine and Fisheries Professional Certification Institute. Marine and Fisheries Professional Certification Institute is an institution recognized by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP).

“I am so happy to receive the certificate. This certification can be a guarantee that I am trained and able to increase the quality assurance of my shrimp harvest. Moreover, this certification is valid for 4 years, which means can be used for quite a long time,” said Agus.

According to Fajriyah, through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that moves the economy--energy that fuels and energy that produce sustainable growth.

Pertamina also supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) achievement through implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
