Yogyakarta - Pertamina Piala Soeratin U-15 2017 will reach its final stage this afternoon 28 October 2017, in line with the celebration of Youth Pledge Day.
Young talents that have honed their skills since the first phase in each province will bring out the best team as a winner and possible heroes for football in Indonesia.
The champion of this year will be added to the long list of the champions of Pertamina Piala Soeratin snce its first held in 1965.
The national round that starts since 14 October, participated by 62 teams from 34 provinces in Indonesia, which gather in Yogyakarta and Magelang to determine the best team in the most prestigious youth football competition.
From almost 2000 players participated, 15 days of competition, and 10.980 minutes of play, resulted two finalists U-17 and two finalists U-15 Pertamina Piala Soeratin.
In U-15, team from North Sumatera and West Java will compete in the field to be the best in the category which was the first time this year.
As for U-17, the competition brings together representatives from Banten, Persita Tangerang with the underdog from East Kalimantan, Penajam Utama.
Vice President Corporate Communication PT Pertamina (Persero) Adiatma Sardjito said that with full support of Pertamina, it is expected that this competition will be a place for young talents to show their skill and grab attention with their interesting play, also fair play to achieve the best achievement.
"In accordance with this year’s mascot, Branjangan bird known for its loud chirping and draw attention, of course the tournament that is organized by Pertamina and PSSI will give special attention to everyone that the effort of regeneration in football is still continue in Indonesia," jelas Adiatma.
A number of innovation has been done by PSSI and Pertamina (Persero) during the event, starting from online registration for participants, use of referee equipment and women supervisor, and the recent addition of U-15 category that will give more opportunity to more young generation.
“It is time for football to participate in moving forward national intelligence. With Pertamina (Persero) we keep on protecting football even from the early stage,” said General Secretary PSSI Ratu Tisha Destria.
Aside of football match, there is also another event held in the same day titled Soeratin Youth Festival in the outdoor courtyard of Maguwiharjo Stadion, Sleman. During the event, there is a talkshow that talks about early stage football and women with guest speaker National Team Coach Luis Milla and Fakhri Husaini.
Also, there is a grassroot football practice by Director of Technic PSSI Danurwindo accompanied by coaches. In addition, the event was enlivened by other activities such as football commentator’s competition, food festivals, and accessories for national team supporters.
