Natuna, October 19, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero), in collaboration with the Pandu Laut Nusantara Community, has provided boats and fishing net packages to fishers in Natuna. The handover of these boats took place at Sujung Beach, Kelanga Village, Bunguran Timur Laut District, on Saturday (12/10).
This boat donation event for the fishers of Natuna Regency is part of Pertamina's Social and Environmental Responsibility Program. The handover was attended by Ms. Susi Pudjiastuti, Founder and CEO of Pandu Laut Nusantara, Acting Regent of Natuna Rika Azmi, Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina (Persero) Brahmantya S. Poerwadi, Executive General Manager of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Sumbagut Region Freddy Anwar, and local fishers.
In this program, Pertamina collaborates with Pandu Laut Nusantara, providing ten boats and fishing net packages to fishers in four locations: Natuna Regency, Belitung Regency, Padang City, and Simeulue Regency. This assistance is expected to boost fishers' productivity and strengthen surveillance in border areas, particularly in Natuna waters.
In her speech, the Acting Regent of Natuna, Rika Azmi, expressed her appreciation to Pertamina and Pandu Laut for supporting the Natuna community through this boat donation program.
"Natuna Regency, as one of the northernmost border regions and also an operational area for Pertamina, has greatly benefited from Pertamina’s CSR contributions, which support the well-being of the community while paying close attention to human resources development," Rika said in her remarks.
Rika further noted that Pertamina's commitment is demonstrated through this special assistance to empower Natuna’s fishers.
"Through the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program, with the provision of boats to fishers, we hope this assistance will be used effectively, improving the community's welfare," Rika added.
The boat assistance was not only given to fishers but also to the TNI-AL Pulau Laut Naval Post to help maintain Indonesia’s maritime sovereignty in border areas.
Susi Pudjiastuti, Founder and CEO of Pandu Laut Nusantara, emphasized in her speech that Natuna, with its abundant marine resources, makes fishers a key focus in improving the quality and productivity of their catch.
"Border areas are very strategic. Not only should military equipment be strong, but it must also be supported by the community. Border islands, strengthened by their fishers, are crucial. These boats can be used for fishers’ livelihoods, transporting logistics, turning the area into an economic and defense hub," Susi said.
The Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina (Persero), Brahmantya S. Poerwadi, stated that Pertamina continues to build sustainable collaborations with various stakeholders to benefit a wider range of community members.
"Pertamina collaborates with various parties to conduct sustainable business, prioritizing ecological balance, environmental protection, contributing to community independence, and improving fishers’ quality of life through the Boat and Fishing Net Assistance Program," explained Brahmantya.
