Jakarta, July 26, 2021 – The Pertamina UMK Academy 2021 event continues with several program innovations. After the Go Modern, Go Digital, and Go Online classes, now it is the turn of the Go Global class to receive briefing materials on Saturday (17/7). According to their level, the participants of this class get a lot of insight about exports and world markets.
Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, stated that one of the presenters at the Go Global class briefing was Indonesia Diaspora SME-SMI Export Empowerment & Development (ID-SEED). It was delivered by the General Chair, Ira Damayanti, and Tengku Irham Kelana as Secretary-General of ID SEED.
In her presentation, Ira conveyed tips in identifying products that were suitable for export. According to her, MSEs must first make product segmentation and export destination country plans. "We need to research which country your product suit the most, in terms of season, food, clothes, or the lifestyle," said Ira.
MSEs, continued Ira, must research consumers in the destination country. This research is carried out for the smallest level, namely individual consumers, to research countries where the level of business risk is small. For example, developed countries in Europe, Australia, and America. "Or if MSEs want to export with certifications and standards that tend to be easier, they can choose exports to developing countries," she added.
Furthermore, Irham added, MSEs that are ready to export must pay attention to several things. It includes quality, quantity, capacity (production), continuity (raw materials), and packaging. If all aspects of those five have been maximized. It could be the basis for these MSE products to be ready for export. "This standardization is an initial curation process whether the product is suitable for export or not," he explained.
The next step is product development, licensing legality management, packaging, certification and labeling, branding, and promotion, then only at the transaction and delivery stage. "The goal is to get positive appreciation from consumers for export destinations. And most importantly, all products and promotions must have at least an English label," he added.
According to Fajriyah, through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can move the economy--energy that fuels and energy that produce sustainable growth.
Pertamina also supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) achievements through implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
