Jakarta, May 16, 2024 – PT Pertamina Patra Niaga ensures aviation fuel (Avtur) availability to fulfill the Hajj flight needs during both the departure period (embarkation) from May 12 to June 10, 2024, and the arrival period (debarkation) from June 22 to July 22, 2024.
Maya Kusmaya, Director of Central Marketing & Commerce at Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated that this year, it is projected that over 241,000 Indonesian Hajj pilgrims will depart through 13 Hajj airports across Indonesia, an increase from 221,000 pilgrims in 2023.
"Pertamina Patra Niaga has made several preparations. First, ensure sufficient Avtur stock at all Hajj Aviation Fuel Terminals (AFT). Additionally, we prioritize refueling Hajj flights and have opened 24-hour communication services with airlines and airports to ensure smooth Hajj travels," explained Maya.
Maya mentioned that in 2024, Pertamina Patra Niaga projects Avtur distribution for Hajj journeys to reach nearly 100,000 kiloliters (KL), an increase of approximately 5% from Avtur distribution during the 2023 Hajj season.
Avtur distribution for Hajj flights will focus on the 13 AFTs at Hajj embarkation airports, including Aceh (Iskandar Muda Airport), Medan (Kualanamu Airport), Padang (Minangkabau Airport), Batam (Hang Nadim Airport), Palembang (Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport), Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta Airport), Solo (Adi Soemarmo Airport), Surabaya (Juanda Airport), Banjarmasin (Syamsudin Noor Airport), Balikpapan (Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan Airport), Makassar (Sultan Hasanuddin Airport), Lombok (Lombok Airport), and Majalengka (Kertajati Airport), ensuring they remain at sufficient levels.
"Pertamina Patra Niaga has mapped out the Avtur needs at each AFT and is committed to supporting the smooth operation of the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage. This is our mandate as an energy provider for all journeys, including the Hajj pilgrimage," added Maya.
Irto Ginting, Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, assured that the stock for the 13 AFTs at embarkation airports is sufficient. Currently, the national Avtur stock resilience is above 22 days and will be maintained above that level.
"Ensuring the stock availability and readiness is always our top priority in facing such moments. Once the stock is secure, we will ensure the distribution process is carried out well to support the smooth operation of Hajj flights," said Irto.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), added that Pertamina guarantees Avtur’s supply and availability to fulfill the 2024 Hajj needs nationwide.
"Pertamina ensures energy availability for a smooth and comfortable Hajj pilgrims' departure," explained Fadjar.
