Jakarta, June 3, 2024 - As a leader in energy transition, PT Pertamina (Persero) is promoting sustainable energy ecosystem realization to help Indonesia achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060 or even sooner. One Pertamina is advancing this goal by collaborating with various partners to develop environmentally friendly energy and sustainability ecosystems in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that Indonesia possesses natural resources that can be optimized for clean energy development.
"With Indonesia’s natural resources, Pertamina will enhance environmentally friendly energy utilization. It also serves as a solution to mitigate fossil energy sustainability," he explained.
Fadjar further explained that Pertamina has engaged in numerous collaborations with various entities, including ministries, foreign business partners, national companies, and universities, both domestic and international, to collectively position Indonesia as a hub for energy transition. Last year, witnessed by President Joko Widodo, Pertamina signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority for the Pertamina Sustainable Energy Center construction in the IKN area, in Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan Province. Pertamina also partnered with the Bakrie Group to develop Shared Hub Infrastructure in IKN, which is part of the Nusantara Knowledge Hub in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN). In this collaboration, Pertamina is open to quality universities participating in sustainability sector research.
Pertamina's subsidiaries will also play a significant role in the IKN development. Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE) has partnered with OIKN to conduct joint studies, supporting IKN development, which is envisioned as modern, green, and sustainable with nature-based and ecosystem solutions.
"Through these collaborations, Pertamina is optimistic that its support for IKN will drive the net zero emissions achievement in line with the Indonesian Government's target," he explained.
