Jakarta, May 22, 2021 - PT Pertamina (Persero) increases its commitment to supporting micro and small enterprises (MSEs) to upgrade. Until the first quarter of 2021, there have been 51 MSEs assisted by Pertamina who have been declared upgraded. This number will continue to rise in parallel with intensive guidance and assistance to MSEs, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Acting Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, explained that all MSEs were declared to have upgraded after fulfilling several criteria. "Such as the increase in turnover, production capacity, the number of workers, certification and business permits, expansion of marketing, and involvement of the surrounding community or sociopreneur," she said.
There are several sectors in the MSEs. The industrial sector dominates several 27 partners (MB), followed by 17 partners in the trade sector, and the rest from the service sector, agriculture, fisheries, and livestock. "The labor-intensive industrial sector usually absorbs a lot of workforces. Therefore, this sector easily meets the criteria for increasing the number of workers," she added.
There have been at least 70 new employees added to the upgraded 51 MSEs. Meanwhile, the total additional turnover of all the fostered partners is almost IDR 100 million every month. Not only that, 44 of them have obtained new business certificates and permits. "There are several certifications facilitated by Pertamina, such as Halal Certification," she said.
According to Fajriyah, Pertamina continues to expand the number of upgraded MSEs under the MSE Funding Program. 795 MSEs assisted by Pertamina were declared upgraded in 2020. The majority was contributed from one of Pertamina's mainstay MSE development programs, namely the UMKM Academy.
Pertamina will take initiatives to increase the number of upgraded MSEs by improving business coaching and assistance. Namely, by implementing a coaching roadmap starting from the Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, to Go Global stages. "With this structured coaching, Pertamina hopes that the fostered partners can quickly adapt and develop quickly," she said.
According to Fajriyah, through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can drive the wheels of the economy--energy that becomes fuel and energy that generates sustainable growth.
Pertamina continues to promote SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) point 8 accomplishments by implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
