Balikpapan, June 30, 2024 - After receiving their report cards, school children entered their new academic year holiday. Using this school holiday, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) Unit Balikpapan, through Baituzzakah Pertamina (Bazma) Balikpapan, conducted a Social Action Mass Circumcision event. A total of 103 children from the area around the Balikpapan Refinery participated in the mass circumcision held at the Patra Women's Association (PWP) Balikpapan office.
"Mass circumcision is one of Bazma's health programs. We hope this event leads children to become more pious and diligent in worship. We also ask for prayers from parents and children so that the operations of the RU V refinery and KPB run smoothly," said the Chairman of the Mass Circumcision Committee, Alhaqu Muhamad Murtado, in his speech.
Murtado also explained that this social action is a regular program by Bazma, demonstrating their commitment to community support and social responsibility. The event was attended by the General Manager of PT KPI Unit Balikpapan, Arafat Bayu Nugroho and the management team, the Chairman of Bazma Balikpapan, Bimada Gurit Paramita, and representatives from PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB).
This event was a collaboration involving PT KPI Unit Balikpapan, PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB), Bazma, the Patra Women's Association (PWP) Balikpapan Regional Level, and the Pertamina Balikpapan Islamic Propagation Agency (BDI).
General Manager of PT KPI Unit Balikpapan, Arafat Bayu Nugroho, expressed his appreciation and support for Baituzzakah (Bazma) Pertamina. This social action aligns with PT KPI Unit Balikpapan's mission to improve the welfare of the surrounding community. Additionally, Bayu urged Bazma to monitor the children's health post-circumcision.
"I am proud of the regeneration in Bazma, and I hope it continues. Bazma has earned the trust of the muzakki and the surrounding community, and this mandate must be maintained. I hope the people of Balikpapan will contribute more to building the city. Let us also pray for the 103 children present here," Bayu said.
This program aims to provide benefits and reduce the cost burden on parents in fulfilling their obligation to circumcise their children. The program is free of charge. Participants were given gifts and additional pocket money.
"Hopefully, everything goes smoothly and safely so the children become pious and make their parents proud. Interestingly, a Christian brother also participated in the mass circumcision, reflecting that circumcision has become a universal need. Please monitor everyone's health and prepare a 24-hour contact for any complaints. Thank you again, Bazma, for today's event. May Allah grant His guidance," Bayu hoped.
Furthermore, Bayu explained that the mass circumcision event and the recent educational aid distribution in Penajam Paser Utara (PPU) strengthen the relationship with the surrounding community.
"Yesterday, we distributed educational packages in Lawe-lawe PPU. It is an effort to build the area around the refinery, creating synergy between the company's business and the surrounding community. We have excellent resources, but we still need support from the people of Balikpapan. We ask for prayers from the community for the refinery's operations, RDMP projects, and workers. The results will benefit us as the largest refinery in Indonesia," Bayu added.
On another occasion, the Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that Pertamina encourages all company elements to show concern through various social actions according to community needs.
"Social activities around the operational area reflect the company's concern for the community," Fadjar emphasized.
The mass circumcision event began at 06:30 WITA with a briefing by Dr. Erwin from the Cahaya Syifa Clinic. Participants then registered, weighed, and underwent health checks. After circumcision, the children were given pain relief medication recommended by the doctor, gifts, and pocket money.
The event concluded with a visit by the General Manager, Chairman of Bazma, Chairman of the Mass Circumcision Committee, and other management members to the circumcision venue.
