Pertamina Returns Affected Residents Home After Ensuring Safety

Indramayu, April 8, 2021 - After checking and verifying the damage to residents' properties, Pertamina collaborated with the Indramayu Regency Government to return the Balongan Refinery tank T-301 affected residents to their homes (7/4).

The process begins with the socialization for refugees delivered by Maman Kostaman, Regional Assistant II for the Economy and Development of Indramayu Regency along with Pertamina, at Bumi Patra Sports Center (GOR).

Maman, Chairman of Tank RU VI Balongan Fire Impact Handling Team, said that Pertamina had written recommendation that it was safe for refugees to return home.

The recommendation is based on a technical study related to the extinguishing process and the security assessment around RU VI.

"For the residents' house, a collaboration team has conducted a survey. The areas where the refugees live are declared safe to live in," explained Maman.

Furthermore, the refugees will undergo a covid-19 screening test to ensure that residents return home in good health.

The screening test involved the Pertamina medical team and the Indramayu District Health Office by sending 20 medical personnel to carry out a swab.

The antigen swab targets around 579 people, according to the latest data of refugees at the Bumi Patra Evacuation Camp on Tuesday afternoon (6/4).

For residents with negative covid-19 results, they were immediately sent home with bus facilities from Pertamina to the nearest point from their residences. The process of returning non-reactive residents went smoothly.

Before returning home, Siti Rokhayah, one of the residents from Suka Urip Village, expressed her gratitude during the evacuation. "I am pleased that Pertamina accommodates refugees like me. Pertamina has fulfill our needs and has been very helpful."

Previously, on Tuesday (6/4), Pertamina, in collaboration with the Regional Government of Indramayu Regency, had also carried out socialization to Muspika, Kuwu (village head), community leaders, environmental officials (Head of RW and RT) as well as TNI (military) and POLRI (police).

Corporate Secretary of Subholding Refining & Petrochemical, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, Ifki Sukarya, explained, "Residents with negative results will be sent home. Residents with positive results, will be further identified. " Residents with symptoms (moderate and severe) will be referred to the Hospital while asymptomatic residents will be asked to isolate under the supervision of the Regency Covid Task Force Team.

Unit Manager Communication, Relations, & CSR RU VI Balongan Cecep Supriyatna said, related to the mechanism for replacing damage to residents' property, it will be calculated according to the district government standard repair costs. Therefore, all affected residents can get the right amount of compensation.
