Pertamina's Fostered MSEs Products are Ready to Compete in E-Commerce, Pertamina Provides a Selling Strategy in the Market Place

Jakarta, July 13, 2021 – The briefing provided by Pertamina to UMK Academy 2021 participants continues. After some basic material about upgraded MSEs, now the participants from the Go Online class are invited to start applying their knowledge about the marketplace guided by speakers who are reliable in their fields.

Acting Senior Vice President for Corporate Communications & Investor Relations of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, said that technological advances and the demands of conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic had forced MSEs to adapt to be more modern and have safe marketing methods.

"One of them is through the marketplace. That is why Pertamina provides a briefing related to building a competitive strategy in e-commerce for MSEs. Therefore, it is hoped that Indonesian MSEs products can be widely available in e-commerce both nationally and internationally," she said.

Based on a survey conducted by MarkPlus, Inc in September 2020, e-commerce and productivity support applications are in the top 3 most used applications. Especially during the pandemic, many consumers choose to hunt for products through the marketplace. They eventually demand businesses to migrate from offline to online.

In the briefing, Pertamina also warned its fostered partners not to be caught in a trap in e-commerce. What is that? That is the condition of rushing into e-commerce without sufficient preparation. Therefore, the impact on spending for e-commerce is high and sales volume when discounts are high. "In the end, they were overwhelmed, and the goods distributed had minimal quality control," she added.

To avoid it all, MSEs who want to enter the marketplace must know the characteristics of the e-commerce platform that will be used. Like the discount features, free shipping, and other promos that require the sellers to be ready for these conditions.

Moreover, in terms of content, MSEs must also pay attention to product photos that must look attractive and clear. The product categories and segments are clear at first glance, visualization of product benefits, clearly visible ordering contacts, and special offers that can add more value to the products being sold to convince consumers.

According to Fajriyah, through the MSE Funding Program, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can move the economy--energy that fuels and energy that produce sustainable growth.

Pertamina also supports SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) achievements through implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs in all of its operational areas. It is part of the environmental and social responsibility to realize economic benefits in the community.**
